Nice boot
I am really liking these boots. They fit well and broke in quickly. In summary they are pretty great. There are only two caveats I'd offer to someone considering this boot.1. If you do a lot of cruising or touring, this boot is perfect. If you're riding a sport/tourer and want to switch it up between touring and more spirited (i.e., leaned way over) riding, there may be better choices. One gets used to the heel, and I've made that work, but that heel may be just a little out of place for that particular application.2. As lovely and luxurious as the leather lining is, and as nicely padded as it is, this does seem to be more of a summer boot. I say that because I've been using it in winter and despite nice wool socks my feet are not freezing but not warm either. And this is CA Bay Area winter, were we might encounter temps in the 30s (F) but rarely, typically here we regard 40's F as chilly. I suspect that if I were to experiment with a 2nd thin pair of wool socks (and I believe I have room for this) that would help and may solve the problem altogether, but as plush and comfortable as they are they are no in and of themselves warm. I suppose if they were insulated that would make them less useful as a summer boot, so, don't read this as a complaint about the boot just a thing to keep in mind if you do a lot of riding in cold. They are extremely comfortable for walking around. As good as any shoes or boots I own.

Solid boots
I've been really happy with these boots. On a cruiser, they look the part, but image alone is a very stupid reason to buy motorcycling gear. The leather moving up the shin is quite thick. There is certainly some deformation that might happen to the leather and should you go down, this boot would not act as an acceptable splint to avoid a break, unlike some of the bomb-proof boots you might see on sportbikes. That said, eventually you will have to get off the motorcycle and walk around and they are quite comfortable to walk in. I don't know as though I'd go hiking in them, but should you find yourself on the side of the road, facing a several mile hike, you wouldn't find yourself miserable after. The shank in the sole, on the other hand, resists deformation relatively well. The thickness of the leather moving up the calf would very much protect against abrasion and burns from exhaust pipes. The sole it's self does quite well in terms of traction. I haven't noticed any slippage at intersections and it feels relatively stable. The only time the boot slipped at a stop was on gravel and I can't hardly blame the boot for that. The toe pad is nice for shifting, though rather unnecessary. The only complaint I have and the reason for 4 stars instead of five is the loops that the velcro strap goes through on the outside of the boot - they feel relatively cheap compared to the rest of the boot. They certainly haven't snapped but I just get the impression that the loops will be the first thing to fail. The Velcro it's self, some reviewers have felt lended a cheap feel to the boot, but I think makes for a much easier fit for somebody with either bigger or smaller calves.I read some reviewers felt that this was more of a summer boot - certainly I couldn't argue with somebody who felt his or her feet were cold in these. I have been riding in below 40 degree weather and while the rest of me was freezing (should have brought the glove liners), my feet were not. In other words, I think your other body parts will get colder long before your feet will in weather cold enough to matter. But, if you do get cold relatively easily, maybe it's something to think about. No problems for me though.I initially bought these because they were made in the USA - I'm glad I bought them and would absolutely buy another pair. It's nice to see a Made in the USA product perform so well.Don't be a squid. ATGATT. These boots fill the bill from your calves down.

Most comfortable RIDING boot i've ever worn.
I just got these boots today and took them for a 3 hour ride. These are not hiking, work, running boots they are motorcycle riding boots designed to be worn with your pants tucked in to keep the from blowing up your pant legs and provide awesome foot protection as well as rider comfort. Yes they can be worn under your pant legs as well. These run about 1/2 size big but so do my 25410 Super Loggers. I can't stand cramped toes and this isn't an issue. I also wear a 3E in the Super Loggers and this 2E in this boot is plenty wide. I don't feel any break in period per say to stretch the leather is needed. They fit fine if not slightly lose as is. It's important to note that these are riding boots as i repeat myself and they are the most comfortable motorcycle riding boot i've ever worn. The sole feels much like that of cowboy boots where they lack padding on the footbed but than again a cowboy boot is a riding boot of a different style. They designed the flat non padded sole for a reason and once you wear them and put the feet down at stops and take offs you will understand why its so important to really feel the road surface with your feet. Steel shank for riding your pegs as designed. It was near 90F today and my feet with pants tucked in were perfectly comfortable. I will only be using these boots for riding or just a very nice set of jean boots. No work, no hiking , no gardening. These are biker boots. The specialty boot for the motorcycle rider.
