Groundbreaking!!!
Some day this book will be looked at as the seminal work on the power of mind tools and society will realize their importance. It's all about stimulation and evolution of the mind. Most of us carry too much fear from our childhood, then get lost in coping with the stress of adult life. The healthy person has the ability to easily take on new experiences and thus pushing the brain to further growth and expansion. Life is intrinsically evolutionary and we are made to evolve and explore our world. Hutchison shows us ways of using neurotechnology to stimulate the brain, and thus moving us to states and experiences we would be frightened to take on in real life. It's these enriched enviornments that bring us to states of evolutionary growth, which in turn enhances our outward experience of the world around us.So take a trip with a mind tool and provide some enrichment to your dull, fear-ridden brain. This book will help you feel better about yourself and bring you to mental states you never imagined!

New sensations without drugs
Hutchison was the man on this, and it's worth readinghim. This stuff was a legit industry in the 1980s.Now it's been sloshed into drug culture and out ofacademia/science, but Hutchison gives you all of itin it's correct context.

Unlocking your brains' potential in a fun way
Great book for people who are interested in tapping into the infinite potential of there brain. The book is a little dated as mentioned in the other reviews but still very informative.

Dated, but indispensible.
This is a good guide to brain-tech, and really the only one that serves it's purpose. It is, as other reviewers have mentioned, quite dated, and there are many products out on the market now which just aren't in this book. Obviously, however, an intelligent consumer can supplement their reading of this book with research on the web to find out about the products that are out now. I discovered the floatation tank, CES, integrated motion systems, smart drugs, sound tables and many other useful tools through this book. I got started in all this stuff by buying a light and sound machine from a magazine advertisement, 15 years ago, and until reading Megabrain I didn't know about the other stuff. CES has greatly enhanced my life, and soon I'm going to buy a floatation tank now that I can afford it. Simply put, there is no other book that concentrates all of these and other items into one single book. That is why this is the only book that is going to make people aware that so many of these things exist. For example: I know plenty of people who are aware of the floatation tank, but not aware of CES. I also know people who are aware of light and sound machines, but not aware of floatation. This is why, no matter how dated the book is, it's going to remain a classic for those who might potentially become true connoissieurs of brain-tech, and indispensible to the explorer who is just beginning. The writing style is admittedly, very periodical-like, however I don't see a problem with this since it is basically a consumer guide. The book shouldn't really attempt to tell you every little thing you can do with each and every gadget, it can only give you a bit of the theory behind each product, and give you a general idea of what it does. I do think, however, that the author should consider coming out with a new edition or perhaps start from scratch with an entirely new book that fulfills the same purpose.

Good, but sensational writing style
Mega Brain Power is a book written by journalist turned author Michael Hutchison. This is the third book written by Hutchison regarding mind technology. The first book was about floatation tanks and the second was titled MegaBrain.Basically as the story goes, Hutchison was asked by his editor to do a story on some new technology regarding mind enhancement. The rest is as we shall say, history. Hutchison was the main public spokesperson for the industry during the mid 80's and 90's.There are a few things I'd like to say about this book. Number one is that it is not a scholarly book. It is written in a sensationalistic style that often crosses the line of objectivity. By the time you're done reading it, you will be convinced that every problem you have could be erradicated by using a light/sound machine. This is not to say that there isn't a lot of good info here. The book excells in the areas of reviewing the various kinds of so called "mind-machines" that were available at the time. I think the reviews regarding the practical sides of these machines is probably 75% accurate. BUT, the scientific validity of the effectiveness of these devices is still very much in question.I purchased some of the gadgets in this book and I think they do have some benefit. Do they achieve the fantastic results stated in this book? Not in my experience. I think they are intersting and fun, but this book can be very misleading. Some the claims it makes would make a tabloid editor proud! I think Hutchison did much to popularize this technology, but it is still very much in development.Last I heard about Hutchison was that he had been in an accident that left him quadriplegic. There is an interview on the web if you look for it. I wish him well. He seems to have an open mind about the possibilities of life.

I adore
It's a crazy book, very instructive, which opens many doors about the capabilities of brain's resilience through the "mind machines"....
