Ateco10 Inch Bowl Scraper/Spatula

I bought this to replace my old scraper that had somehow diseapeared. I was disappointed at first, because this one is larger and less flexible. But I quickly got used to it and continue using even after the old scraper was found. It is perfect for removing bread dough out of the mixer and cutting it into pieces.

It's a spatula. It's hard and non-flexible for those times when you want to severely scrape something out of a vessel and not have any give or flex. Those soft squishy spatulas have their place, but get this if you want a real scraper that won't yield under pressure.

It's not just the fact that it's stiff, it also has a large work area that is very handy for mixing, scraping, scooping, and carrying food from one location to the other. It isn't heat proof--that's the only drawback, but I find myself picking it up for non-baking tasks such as easily transporting chopped onions from the cutting board to the pan and for scraping chopped cheese or hard-boiled eggs off a cutting board, and for neatly cleaning up the edges of the work bowl of the food processor. Of course, for mixing and blending ingredients it's a wonder, you move so much batter in each motion that your ingredients--especially beaten egg whites--blend together much faster than with less 'powerful' spatulas. As much as I love the softer heat-proof spatulas which can be used for so many purposes, this one is unique and I'm enjoying using it.

I got it to scrape the edges of the bowl while making frosting. It serves that purpose well. It's somewhat flexible, but overall stiff.

If you want to use this spatula to frost a cake, ok, but if you want to scrape out a bowl; forget it. It doesn't hug the bowl. I was a little afraid to put it in the dishwasher, but it made it out ok. Don't recommend

Very sturdy indeed, and perhaps for the purest who want to scrape the bowl cleanly...this tool might be a bit too sturdy..stiff to swipe the sides of the bowl. But I like it because it will handle stiffer dough's or batters very well.

This is great for working with cookie and bread doughs or anything that's a little too stiff or heavy for a regular silicone spatula. This is also great for moving large amounts of icing around. Great tool to scrape your mixing bowl down with.

Very sturdy and does what it's supposed to do unlike those silicone bendy toys.

I don't know how i did manage with my baking before. Love it - very helpful with multiple use in the kitchen.
