Information is simple and concise. Great book!

The boom font does not inspire you to read the essays, and the techniques listed there to help you write an essay are good. However, you can find them online too. I gave it 3 stars because the essays don't invite you to read it because of the font. In general , it is not bad.

Good study guide.

I am a bad essay writer. So I had to get this book to help me out on writing essays and it really helped me out.

The book how to write essays step by step did not help me at all it was a disappointment.I tough that it was going to guide you through step by step with examples on how to actually due essays big disappointment

This book got my daughter through English Int 2, and our neighbour's daughter through Geography exams. It is straight forward, with good examples and exercises. It was most effective when we used the exercises to work through past papers, or applied them to revision examples. By the end of two months, doing an exercise each week, we had gone from a fail in the prelims to a grade A in the final exam. The book looks at each stage of writing an essay, starting with the essay plan, then moving from this to an introductory paragraph, and so on. The essay examples show good and poor examples, and also give reassuring advice about length of sentences, paragraphs, and lay-out and development of an essay. Highly recommended, Good work

I failed my English Language O level the first time, completely lost confidence then failed it two more times - sad but true! Even though I am reasonably intelligent. Now many years on I'm doing GCSE English again with a good teacher and this book. I don't remember ever having been taught at Grammar School, in a structured way, how to write essays! It was all a bit hit and miss. I wrote an essay - it was marked and that was all. Oh how I wish I'd have had this book all those years ago my career and life might have been quite different. I will be surely work through this book with my son as he starts secondary education!

I got this book for my son who's doing A levels. He's found it very helpful and I've read the book too so that I could help him plan, structure and improve his essay writing. The book seems to be helping and has examples of good essays. Very easy to follow with good sound advice!
