Super good value and seems very durable, very happy with purchase
I have been looking for a blender capable of crushing and blending ice/frozen fruits for a while and I didn't want to spend $400 or more for a nice high end blender from a well known brand like Vitamix. So when I saw this blender on an Amazon lightning deal for $67.99 I bought it. I'm always pretty wary of items from companies I've never heard of with little to no reviews but I figured if it was a dud I would just send it back to Amazon and for the price I figured why not give it a shot. That said I'm really impressed with this blender. Is it as powerful as a $500 vitamix, probably not. But it destroys any other blender I've seen in this price range and can compete with blenders that cost several hundred dollars more. I've been using it daily for the last few weeks to make smoothies for my toddler and I am very happy with the blender. The Vanaheim has a plastic jar that won't shatter like the glass ones that some companies include. The motor gear is made of sturdy metal (my old blender had a plastic gear that just burnt up after a few uses) and the base is pressure sensitive so it remains off until you place the jar on the base. It can crush ice and frozen fruits really easily, however you need to blend those things first by either using the crush ice button or manually using the variable speed knob before adding your other ingredients. If you add all your other ingredients at the same time your smoothie will have chunks that aren't totally blended. This might be the only con to this blender over a Vitamix or other high end blender as some of them are capable of this task. However I'm totally fine with this slight inconvenience. The crush ice button works really well and takes around 30-45 seconds depending on how much ice you put it the blender. Once the ice is crushed the Vanaheim has had no problem blending any fruit or veggie that I have personally thrown at it in a matter of a 20-30 seconds. Also this thing is super easy to clean. The cleaning instructions in the manual (yes I read the manual) say to fill the jar halfway with warm water and soap and to blend for 45-60 seconds (it might of said 30-60 but I can't remember). This cleans the blender jar and blades really well and you don't have to worry about cutting yourself on the ridiculously sharp blades. Then just clean the lid, the outside of the jar, wipe down the base and voila your done. Really long story short, this is a great blender even If you don't get it on a lightning deal price like I did. It looks like a much more expensive product and It works much better than others in this price range. I hope it lasts as long as I think it will. If not I will update my review.

Works well as advertised
I've been using this product everyday since I received it in March of this year and I must say... I love it! I make daily fruit/veggie smoothies so it's really convenient and nice. For the ice part it doesn't work as well. I've used different ice sizes to figure out what would work best to grind them down but when I put the ice in, the machine would "freeze" and I would have to wait for the timer to stop to manually grind the ice. But other than that, it's a good machine that can make a variety of things such as soup (I've also made clam chowder with this--works as advertised) and smoothies.

Update: 2-months in, broken.
Good blender for the money. Great power. Basic features. Very content with it. Did a great job on a smoothie with lots of frozen stuff in it. Update: With only a handful of uses in two short months, the unit has failed. It cavitates heavily, makes a boat load of horrific sounds, then pops and the blade stops. I only use if for veggie smoothies, so it hasn't seen any heavy use at all. I've contacted both the seller and the manufacturer at this point to determine if they'll warranty the unit expeditiously. Until I learn more, I can't give this unit any more than one star.

Very Powerful and Smooth
At first I thought this blender was loud, but this was due to my inexperience with modern blenders. The noise level has a lot to do with the type of ingredients one puts into it. Frozen fruit for example makes a lot of noise until it's ground to a certain point. This blender has plenty of power and hasn't flinched at the stuff I've fed it. I use it primarily for fruit smoothies, and I tend to use a lot of frozen items. After I bought the blender, I saw the Vita Mix for a lot more money. I wondered if I'd made a mistake in buying a blender that was so inexpensive. After I made my first smoothie, however, I was very impressed with the quality. Vandheim really put a lot of quality in this blender! The only thing I noticed is the smoothie option isn't quite long enough for my smoothies, probably because I use a lot of frozen fruit. To extend the time, I simply flip the high speed switch up for about 25 seconds. So far, I love everything about this blender and highly recommend it to anyone.

Second time's a charm
Our first blender died after a few weeks use. The power would come on, but blades wouldn't spin. Amazon replaced it quickly; even before I had sent the first one back. We're a couple months into using the second one daily and it's still going strong. We use it for breakfast shakes, one is primarily fruit and the other is primarily leafy veggies. Blending of the fruits and veggies is great, but it has a bit of trouble getting ice to the same consistency. Ice chunks remain about the size of a peanut and end up just spinning around in the blender regardless of the speed chosen. Other than that, I like the industrial strength, and look and feel of this thing. It really feels sturdy and doesn't bounce around or require that you stand there with your hand on top. This was an upgrade from a personal smoothie blender, and I'm not going back. We've easily paid for the Vanaheim already by eating healthy food from home. Customer service from Amazon was outstanding, so I'm very happy with the purchase.

Excellent blender, wish it had a glass pitcher but oh well, other than that it is great!!!
Excellent blender, wish it had a glass pitcher but oh well, other than that it is great for everything from smoothies to hot soups as it has a feature to release steam in the cap. Haven't tried any heavy duty nut butters or anything like that but so far so great! Save yourself some dough and enjoy a nice blender :) UPDATE: I had to lower rating because before one year the blender started to leak - dripping everywhere - no matter how much I cleaned it off. I tried to tighten the bottom disc slightly but that did not help. Now I tried to make a warranty claim to Vanaheim through their website but no reply... I guess I am out the dough AND they don't seem to make these anymore... oh well.

Awesome blender for a great price!
I've only used this blender for a few weeks and I'm loving it! I've been able to puree my baby's foods without a hustle. It has an easy clean feature that you can use in case you are making different purees! Its a good deal for that price! Better than expected. - Easy to use and clean - Lots of power to crush and shred almost anything - Excellent ice crushing ability - Very sturdy and well built - It has multiple settings - It has units of measurements on the side (makes it way easy to measure milk!)

Totally impressed
This is without doubt the most awesome blender we've ever owned. It has power to spare.....almost scary power. The capacity, another reason we needed an upgrade from our Ninja, is excellent at 64 ounces. Controls are great, and it's easy to use. The only challenge so far is getting the cutter assembly apart for cleaning. Probably just something we've missed, but water gathers under the pitcher, beyond the blades, and you have to shake it out. We haven't found a tool yet to take that apart. But, don't let that stop you from buying this! Over Memorial weekend, we had company. We were making slushies in the evening. They were so impressed, they took videos of it working, to show family and friends back home. You will love this machine!!!!!
