Boss Gloves 3500 Foam Lined PVC Gloves, One Size, Style # 3500, by BOSS / CAT GLOVES.Where to begin. The first thing that I noticed about these florescent orange gloves, is that from the thumb side, the gloves look like lobster claws. The person who used his hand as a mold for these gloves must have had a thumb deformity. Wearing one of these gloves, and looking at the back of your hand, the outer side of the thumb is curved inward, while the inner side of the thumb is straight. As far as I know, these gloves only come in one size, and after trying them on, they appear to be a size "L", and I wear a size "XL", so I was not able to open my hand flat due the lack of palm slack between the thumb and middle finger. If these were cloth gloves, the base of the thumb would rip out on me in no time. These gloves are preformed, with the thumb and fingers curved permanently and partially inward. I have wide palms, but the palms on these gloves, opposite the thumb side, are wide enough for a size "XX" palm, leaving me with palms that are too wide and baggy, but too short between the base of the thumb and the base of the fingers. The lining of these PVC covered gloves is a fuzzy lining with a paper thin foam backing. This lining is sewn to the elasticized cuffs, placed on a hand mold, and dipped into a vat containing the PVC rubber coating. The heavy staple used to clip the gloves together, has already cut the woven wrist material and started a small run. I will touch it up with a dot of silicone glue before it unravels. In terms of insulating ability, I tried holding onto a frozen gel pack for a few minutes, and though my hand did not feel the cold passing through the PVC directly, if I were working outdoors in freezing weather, I would want to use thin silk or synthetic glove liners. Unless you have very thin fingers, there is not enough room in the glove fingers to use wool glove liners. I tried holding onto a snow shovel, but there was not enough "give" in the back of the glove to enable me to get a firm grip on the shaft of the shovel. The very long (3/4" too long) little finger on the glove also got in the way of getting all four fingers wrapped around the shaft of the shovel. These gloves are ok for short term use in cold liquids or chemicals, but too clumsy in their design for long term use with tools or machines. The good things about these gloves, are: 1.) that they are waterproof on both the front and back, and onto the beginning of the wrist area, and 2.) that they are insulated. The not so good things about these gloves are: 1.) that the forming mold used for these gloves was poorly designed in terms of hand shape, thumb shape, and little finger length, making them clumsy to use, and 2.) that the materials used in their construction violate California's Proposition 65 concerning cancer, birth defects, and reproductive harm, so they cannot be sold in California. Are they worth buying? They are certainly cheap enough for occasional wear, but not designed well enough for long term wear. I gave them two and a half stars at best, and that was being generous.Material Content: 80% PVC, 10% Cotton, 10% Foam Insulation.Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.
