Botanica's Orchids: Over 1,200 Species Listed (Botanica's Gardening)

Orchids are the largest group of flowering plants on the planet. As such, there is no single book that can show "...all the species and varieties of orchids..." as this one claims. Nonetheless, it give a great overview of the genera and selected species within. Whether you have been growing orchids for years or just bought your first plant and are already "hooked", you cannot go wrong with this book.

This book is a terrific encyclopedia of orchids. Unfortunately it has not kept up with the galloping taxonomists who make life for the serious grower. It is inexpensive and of all the "Encyclopedias" published through 2008 the least expensive, the most jam-packed---but not enough for the serious grower aspiring to becoming a an AOS judge--though it would be a good study tool.. The world is moving to computerized systems to keep up with the changes in orchid naming. Matt Cohen  Zen of Watering Your Garden

This is an excellent book for anyone who collects orchids. The great color photos allow you to identify what you have at least to genus and often to species. There are many more orchid species and varieties than in this book, but this is thick as it is. The genera are arranged alphabetically which is helpful.

This book covers a large number of orchids and includes info on their growing requirements. Very informative.

This is one of the best reference books I have on orchids, inclusive of necessary watering and climate for each species. Easy to use and most important the thousands of pictures eliminate any confusion whether you are a beginner or a "serious orchid grower". If you gorw orchids you need this book!

Has a lot of orchids - species and hybrids but a some that I wanted to look up from my collection was not in book - but it's still helpful-

This book more than exceeded my expectations. I knew what to expect from the content, having `browsed` the book before. The paperwork said `Standard Condition`, no way, it was as near to new as it could have been. Expertly packed and received within the time frame. A very nice Book Store to deal with. A huge thankyou to them.

Although there are many spicies listed with brief info, the pictures are of a very poor quality, I couldn't even finish going through the book. I can't compare it with any other simiplar books as this was my first one to try, but I knew straigh away this book is definitely not what i am looking for!

Tons of accurate info on orchids. Book is thick but the glue of the spline quickly let go. Book still holds well but the cover is loose.
