HELIX 7 CHIRP GPS G3

The Helix 7 arrived very quickly, 3 days, even though the projection was about two weeks. So far, the unit came in perfect condition and exactly the way I wanted it. I have not had it out on the water yet but will update if anything changes. READ THE DESCRIPTION YOU ARE BUYING VERY CAREFULLY TO GET WHAT YOU WANT or learn the return policy. This seller has a very detailed and strict return policy that could cost you money just to return the item. Some issues with the installation, my fault not Humminbird, if you do not follow the instructions: 1. Make sure you have enough cable to move head. The keeper on the power cord will not go through the drilled hole and you will have to redo power connection. This is my second Helix 7 install and I still had to redo the power cord. 2. The unit does not come with a trolling motor adapter. Humminbird used to have special combos that came with a trolling motor transducer instead of the high speed one. They may still, but I did not take the time to look. If you have an old trolling motor adapter, mine is 20 yrs old, the new transducer will not fit. The new one is 1/4 inch too wide. I split mine in half to finish the connection and will probably buy a new one in the near future. 3. This unit does not come with a head cover. 4. The Navionics card is a micro SD card in a mini SD card adapter. I was a little upset until I figured that out since the Helix 7 head will only accept the micro SD card. If you have never used one of these type units...be very careful if you are going out in very low light conditions. The brightness will blind you if you do not turn it down. Overall the unit itself is amazing. The only drawback is you will have to spend some time learning the operation. The unit will do many things but only if you know how to get there. I am still amazed the detail in the cartography. All the way down to small creeks. Now, if they could only design one to tell which fish will bite.

I needed a simple depth finder but I got so much more form Heumminbird 410940-1 HELIX 7 CHIRP MDI (MEGA Down Imaging) GPS G3 Fish Finder (OK, the previous was a "cut & Past" name, but it worked). The chart software seems very accurate and a great enhancement to the depth finder. I am not a fisherman but I have located lots of fish! The unit has a 7 inch display which is very viewable from the "helm" and in bright light. My boat dealer recommended it (from his own personal use) and it would probably meet anyone's needs. No regrets!

I installed this unit a few months ago and have used it dozens of times. It works really well. It does a great job imaging the structure under and to the side of the boat. Marking fish using the side scan is not as easy as I hoped but with practice I think I can get the hang of it. It is a tremendous improvement over my previous fish finder that operated on 220 Khtz. I would definitely buy this unit again.

great depth finder for the money. 7" was around 700 dollars. the mega imaging is really great and clear with great resolution. The next size up is a 8" (hard to find) and cost about 1200. big jump in cost for additional inch but had a few extra features the 7 doesn't. maybe will come down in price later but about the same cost as other brands at this time.

I'm new to boats especially depth finders and just recently got back into fishing after 2 decades plus so this is a light year jump. When I bought something I wanted to make sure it was what I wanted. You can't go wrong. It's a lot to learn and take in but do the research and homework as I did and this is what I picked and I'm really glad I went with this model. At first I didn't open up the advanced mode, it was amazing enough without but after that even though the options were nice enough it got even 10 times better. You will be learning with this thing for a long time but it's well worth the money the images are really quite unreal I'd recommend this to anyone novice or expert.

The best Humminbird deal you're going to find for the price. I mostly use the sonar and map view for trolling stripers in 100 feet of water or less. The side imaging is pretty great too, down imaging is great but often times I see fish on the sonar that I don't see on the down imaging. Occasionally its the other way around too. The side imaging will tell you some good information in combination with the sonar (chirp). You can tell which side of the boat the fish are on when you see them on sonar. The maps included are a great deal. I almost went for the pilot link and that whole setup which this does not support. For what I'm doing on a budget I'm glad I went this route.

I've had conventional fish finders on all of my boats and it's nice to know what the depth is or other things like water temperature and so on. But this helix 7 GEN3 mega DI is something else on a whole other level. I didn't even know what I was doing it was my first time w using it today and it blew my mind! No more wondering what's down there or if it's a fish, or seaweed or something else it shows everything so well. If you're contemplating is it worth the price let me tell you YES IT IS.

Autochart mapping the bottom works well. Autochart PC a little clunky, just need to get used to it. Overall very pleased with the functionality of the Helix unit ...

Arrived earlier than expected...just in time for our annual fishing trip.

All is good and works as expected. Use mainly for the auto mapping capabilities.
