Excellent Replacement For My 2012 Golf Varient\Estate lock
My 2012 VW Golf Variant trunk motor was gone and it couldnt lock perfect and even if it did lock it was a problem to open.Thank God I Found this. It looked like it wouldnt fit but it did pirfectly. Thanks Again

Works! Easy to install! Great value!
I was irritated that the VW OEM lock stopped working in the first place. Seriously, why does a lock like this wear out ever? But they do, and this after market lock for the Tiguan is an identical replica. You need a special star wrench to screw out the old one (why wouldn't VW use a common wrench? - got a single star that fit my ratchet set at an auto store). This after market lock seems to be just a good as the OEM VW lock, for a fraction of the cost.

Fits great and does the job
I had someone rear end me a few years back and the replacement unit failed. This unit has done great so far. I also noticed that it has much less stress on the latch. Maybe that is just the way I installed it but it does not POP when opened. Unfortunately I had to purchase a small 10 point socket set but otherwise it's all good. Install was trivial.

Only lasted 10 months
Replaced the latch with this part back in October 2023. Well, it didn't last very long now it's failing again and can't open my trunk. It was a pain to install, I hate that I have to replace it again.

One day my 2011 TDI Sportwagen hatch would not close out of nowhere. Bought this installed in 30 minutes and it’s back working. Might need to buy an extra 🤣

If you don't have a dealership near you, or you simply can't afford to replace it with official Volkswagon parts, then this will get the job done. It's holding out so far but it feels very cheap and sometimes gets stuck closed.This is not a simple part to replace and the mechanic ended up having me and another person help him because of how many sets of hands are needed at once to get the lift gate taken apart without breaking anything. That's no fault of the latch itself but something to be aware of if you are considering doing this yourself.
