Two Volcanoes is the best
UPDATE 8/8/2018: It's been over a year since I've bought my first bag of Two Volcanoes Coffee. Since then I've bought roughly one bag per month, every month. This is my favorite coffee! Every bag has been, as far as I can tell, identical to every other bag. The coffee is always fresh, roasted perfectly, and has a deep flavor I've never found elsewhere. Whenever people smell the freshly ground beans, they all have the same reaction: "Wow!" Even the smell has a deep earthy flavor, one that people generally aren't used to and certainly aren't expecting. I cannot recommend this coffee enough. Original review below: I'm an avid coffee drinker, though not a connoisseur by any means. That said, I know good coffee from bad and great coffee from good. This is great coffee. There's a unique flavor to this coffee that I haven't experienced before; a deep, earthy taste that separates this from every other coffee I've ever had. Since buying my first bag of Two Volcanoes Coffee just 2 months ago, I've bought 3 more - neither I nor those I share it with can get enough. Try it and you'll feel the same, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to receiving my next bag - I'm almost out!

Java from Lava
These are some quality beans and they are roasted nicely. Mine arrived a bit oily but the coffee doesn't have a strong or bitter taste to it; in fact it has a vey smooth taste that brings out the character of the beans. It isn't uncommon for beans to release a little oil after they have rested awhile, especially when roasted beyond 'light' as these are. However, it appears that these beans benefit from a darker roast than some others do and the oil is not a sign of over-roasting. This coffee tastes like 'real' coffee, which is to say it is like what you are used to, only without any of the unpleasant undertones that you might find in cheaper beans. I recently tasted some Ethiopian coffee and while it was excellent it had a taste that was, well, different. The aroma and taste both had floral notes to them and my first impression was that it didn't exactly taste like coffee. You won't find that here. This is some rich, non-bitter coffee that should be enjoyable to most coffee drinkers. If you like good coffee, pony up for a bag of these and you won't be sorry.

Stop Searching! This is your next (and last) coffee!!!
I have been a dark roast lover for many years. I recently received a French Press as a gift and had been using various pre-ground, organic, dark roast coffee...Well, I decided to fully immerse myself into the world of french press, slowly moving away from Keurig, and buy a grinder and some whole bean coffee... This Two Volcanoes Whole Bean Coffee-Guatemala, surpasses all the expectations I had created in my brain and taste buds! Opening the bag was a treat of rich aroma, pouring the beans, which reminded me of peas more than coffee beans, into my grinder, elicited so much excitement! The fragrance that took over my kitchen as the grinder whirred the beans into an espresso-like grind, was beyond any plug-in air freshener I have ever purchased! As I poured the hot water over the grind for the brewing process of my French Press, I was impressed at how quickly the water took on a coffee look, and required very little stirring. After 5 minutes of brewing, I began to press down the plunger, my excitement building. I finally got to pour my first mug of coffee. The first sip was pure delight. No bitter after-taste. No need to add sweetener or cream. Each additional sip brought different flavors. The richness of coffee, the fruity undertones that hint to berries, and a perfect sweetness. I will most definitely be purchasing this coffee again!!!

Unfortunately Too Weak
I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed by this coffee after reading all the positive reviews. I got it and basically immediately ripped it open, ground it up and made a cup. It goes without saying that it smells fantastic. They are definitely high quality beans. The problem with this coffee is the roast. It's supposed to be a medium roast but it really doesn't have the strength of any medium coffee I've ever tried and I consider myself a bit of a medium roast snob. I've tried different grinds, differing quantities of coffee relative to the water and I just can't get the taste to be strong enough for my liking. The actual taste itself is great but the lack of strength just kills the experience for me. Maybe I got older beans that had lost their potency but I can't justify the expense of getting this coffee again with the risk of getting another one like the one I got, assuming of course it isn't typical. If you like a weaker coffee, you'll probably love this but if you are expecting a medium roast coffee, there are better options.

I love this Coffe
This is the coffee of my childhood. I grew up in Guatemala, and this coffee takes me right back there. It’s the best coffee I’ve ever tasted—and I’ve tried plenty—and I highly recommend it. You can really tell it was made with love.

Guatamla-San Marcos. Excellent single origin coffee.
I waited to review until entire bag was gone. This is a very good Guatamla-San Marcos single origin. Cupping: this bean has complex tasting notes with a smooth light chocolate finish. Low acidity in a very consistent medium roast, this is why the beans are dry and not oily, it's not over roasted. I adjusted my grinder to one click above medium, about 6 table spoons for 6 cups. No roasted date is a bit of a let down but expiration date shows it was roasted a month or so before delivery and still with fresh aroma and taste. I always open the sealed bag, close then wait a day before brewing. I think you will find this process makes for a better cup. I recommend you try this, I will be reording but probably direct from the vendor website. With Amazon you just never know how fresh coffee will be, this is a good choice however.
