A year ago, I went cheap and went the look-alike knock-off. It never worked. I thought I was the negative issue. As a novice, I thought that I did not have the skills to sharpen well. I tried everything under the sun to make it work. I made much sawdust that summer. I gave up and had better results with just a file and guide, the old-fashioned way. Then, I got this one with a good brand. ***What a beautiful product this is.*** I got it in the mail and had to try it even though I had already sharpened the chain with the old hand and no guide (without the old bad knock-off). Wow. I am impressed.

If you own a chainsaw and use it you owe it to yourself to buy this tool. It is easily set up for sharpening. The handles help you keep the proper angle and there are engraved pictures or saw and arrows that tell you what way to sharpen. I use my saw a few times a year and usually pay to sharpen my two chains at least once a year. This tool will save me money, and honestly keep a sharp chain that is safer to use. I hate to admit but I’ve cut with a full chain just to get the job done. It’s not safe and takes longer. Having this tool will allow me to stop and take the 5 or so minutes to sharpen my blade and keep cutting. I’ve never sharpened and did my first blade in 10 minutes taking my time.

So easy, so incredibly easy. And afterwards, please forgive the cliche, wood cuts like butter. Seriously, it’s so easy to do, maybe takes 10 minutes on a Stihl 261 size chain, I give it a once over now every other time I cut.Whether you use your chainsaw frequently, or infrequently as I do, you will love this sharpener.

I hate sharpening chains. This made my life a lot easier and I can get back to doing the other 200 things my wife wants me to do now. Chain is sharp again and works great. I wish I had bought one of these a long time ago.
