Invest a bit more and buy a proper microscope
This item is very flimsy, difficult to set up, needs careful operation. Each part is so small. I would rather put in a few more thousands and buy an average quality traditional optical microscope.

Waste of time and money.
It is very difficult to assemble. wud have been happy if it had worked after assembling. Cannot see anything even though they have provided slides. Total waste of time and money. Struggled a lot with it.

LED not working
The media could not be loaded. I opened the screw, saw the button cells in LED coupler tool, removed the insulato4 there, bur still don't find LED working

I recommend offering replacement paper components free of charge
My comments refer to the $39 “deluxe” version of the foldscope, not the low-priced, disposable variety. It came packed with handy accessories. However, the optical performance of the included lens is marginal; the x-y stage controls and focusing work, but are inconvenient and would not last in the hands of children.Make this deluxe version out of plastic sheet instead! Until plastic replaces the paper, I recommend offering replacement paper components free of charge, or at a low price.

Not for $40
My son was very excited when we ordered these kits and saw the company's video. We both like what this product represents and the potential in which the idea was founded.Unfortunately, that fell apart when his Foldscope arrived with no lens (B4) or couplings (B3). We had to use the ones from my kit. The product sort of revolves around those items. It's amazing how quickly you can thwart a thirsty and young scientific mind. The instructions seem quickly developed and not very well thought out. Very disjointed from the kit we received. Overall the assembly wasn't too bad. Most people would struggle though. The end product is just not what the campaign represents. For the price we paid to support this ideas future developments and the result of the effort, we are certainly left disappointed and feel rather swindled. This is just not the type of product they promote on their video. The packaging has a decent quality to it, but the product itself does not deliver.I can't tell if this company is legit or just a hyped startup that had a great idea and just lacks substance.
