BEWARE -- **REMANUFACTURED** UNIT
I've been a Dish Network customer since 1998, have owned a number of satellite receiver units, and have a great deal of experience with them. I have also have had, unfortunately, a great deal of experience with remanufactured (used) Dish Satellite receivers, none of which was good, and I would not care to repeat the experience.1. NOWHERE NOWHERE NOWHERE in this unit's description did it indicate that it was a remanufactured unit. I would NEVER have purchased a remanufactured unit, and certainly would not have done so at this price. I wouldn't have touched a used (remanufactured) unit at any price in fact, because of prior experience. Of the three previous remanufactured units which Dish Network provided to me as part of a service contract, two did not work correctly and I spent hours on the phone arguing with Dish that the problem was the receivers, not the satellite installation, in which I was proven correct by the fact that the third actually works properly (so far, I've only had it a month or so). This unit similarly does not work properly, so three out of four problem units does not recommend remanufactured products, at least from Dish Network. Nowhere in the description on Amazon's site, on the outside of the box, or anywhere else did it indicate the unit was remanufactured, I just happened to catch a sticker on the back of the unit indicating that this was the case. That's not what I paid for, that's not what I expect to receive.2. The unit does not work properly. After nearly an hour on the phone with "advanced" technical support, wherein they cannot figure out why the smart card number on the sticker and printed on the card is not the same as the number the receiver thinks the smart card number is, and after I was informed they don't know why we can't get the receiver to work and receive the channels and that they would have to "research" the history of the smart card in order to figure out what is going on, I told them to forget it, I was returning the unit. I didn't receive new merchandise like I thought I had purchased, and it doesn't work in any event. I'm not wasting any more time trying to get a used unit with a funky smart card that may never work to work. Instead, I will purchase a new receiver someplace else.ETA: Please note, this review was written when the product was sold by Satellite Oasis. They stopped selling the product shortly after I wrote this review, possibly because Amazon made them stop doing so, possibly because I included comments about them in the review because they were so horrible, and now its being sold by a different party, Sunday's Seconds LLC. Satellite Oasis was based in Indiana, since this new party is based in Illinois, so I'm assuming they have no connection to one another. To reiterate the company with the crazy, insulting owner was SATELLITE OASIS, I know nothing regarding the current seller.I would also like to suggest that if you purchase any Dish Network receiver on Amazon, do so from a different third party vendor. The seller has insisted that they disclosed that the unit was remanufactured (they did not, there still is no mention of that fact on this page, although I'm sure they'll change that after the email exchange I have had with them. They've also insisted that all of these units are remanufactured or refurbished because this unit is no longer produced, although a lay person like myself would hardly have known that.) I also recommend that you buy elsewhere because they've informed me that if they determine on their own that the unit still works, they'll charge me for shipping both ways, even though they failed to make a material disclosure re the condition of the unit. That's false advertising, as far as I'm concerned. Please do yourself a favor and make sure you only purchase new products. Its not worth the hassle dealing with used, remanufactured or refurbished ones, and certainly not worth the hassle of a return.ETA: I would further urge anyone reading this to purchase from another vendor due to the series of bizarre, unprofessional and personally insulting emails I have received from this seller. After I said I wanted to return the unit, and not go through Dish Network for an exchange, he apparently checked and saw that I had left a negative review for him. Based on that, he said he wouldn't sugar coat what he thought. He reiterated that I was lying about whether he had properly disclosed the true condition of the unit, that my explanation for the return of the unit wasn't flying with him, mentioned the A to Z claim guarantee I had filed (and was told to do so by Amazon when I contacted them about the issue) and accused me of trying to rip him off. I made the mistake of responding by telling him I do understand the difference between the different categories of product, that I had attempted to try the unit in spite of my issue with not getting what was advertised as a "new" unit, that I had filed the claim now because Amazon told me to do so after I contacted them about the issue, told him I would send the unit back exactly how Amazon told me to do it, and no other way. His response was even worse, questioning my mental health, repeatedly accusing me of trying to rip him off or tarnish his name, said attempting to return a unit I had tried to activate was criminal as far as he was concerned (how else can you find out if something works or doesn't than by attempting to activate it?), referred to my "bloated sense of self" and confidently asserted that my negative review of him would soon be buried by the rest of his customers' reviews, those that operate on "the plane of existence of us" presumably referring to my supposed lack of mental health again. For your own sake, buy from someone else. Its not worth dealing with people on his supposed plane of existence.

Beware when buying used satellite receivers
Purchased used from M.L.E I tried to have it activated and I was told that there was a balance on the receiver which had to be paid before it could be activated.
