The Paper Hat Book: Super Hats for Super Kids Paperback – September 15, 2014

Beautiful book, super kid photos. I love that the kids look like nice REAL kids, not perfect, no make-up. The hats are really inspiring. I'm not the type to follow a pattern or recipe exactly, but I will refer back to this for ideas for lots of projects. For kids? Really? Kiddo, if you think I'm going to wait till you're in bed to wear your hat, you are wrong!

My school was preforming Noyes Fludde, the 5th grade students and I used this book to help the students create animal headpieces. The pictures were excellent and the instructions were easy enough for a 5th grader. Although this book doesn't necessarily have animal hats, the students thought the instructions and pictures gave them plenty of inspiration.

I love the designs in this book, and I appreciate the detailed directions. I have two problems with it though: 1. the templates in the book are smaller than actual size and would need to be enlarged on a copier or manually, 2. although the description of the book touts that the designs can be made from readily available materials, many of the hats inside are made from more specialty papers, which are not easily available in our area. It has been very disappointing for myself and my kids that the book isn't more "user friendly". I am especially disappointed in the lack of full-size templates.
