Fantastic place to start for new, curious, or aspiring vegans
There are many books out there on plant-based eating (I've read several) and many of them are very good. However, there are few, if any, that are as accessible and concise as this one. Dr. Barnard has done a fantastic job distilling the essential information one needs to know to get started on a vegan diet. Each section wastes no time, or words, on delving into what's most important to know. The book includes all the basics but also has chapters on specific health conditions, life-stage specifics, and some great recipes to get started with. The Vegan Starter Kit is also highly accessible in how it recommends making a transition to a vegan diet, skipping difficult to achieve goals and guidelines and instead advising a simple, very workable path. Highly recommended for anyone just starting out or anyone even remotely curious about vegan eating. Obviously, this book is not meant to be exhaustive and if after reading it you desire to learn more the book includes a great resource section for further study.

Very disappointed...please read my Review.
Don’t waste your $ or time! This is a small paperback book with poor quality, old looking paper & small font, which is very difficult to easily read / reference the concise & important information being presented. Neal Barnard MD is very intelligent, and well-versed on the Vegan Lifestyle. Another of his books is “The Get Healthy, Go Vegan “ Cookbook contains much the same info & font is user friendly...a great book! For the past 3 years, I am Wholefoods Plant-based and prior to embracing this enjoyable healthy lifestyle, I was a quasi-Vegan. Being a Nurse, I did a lot of research, reading, attending Lectures, watching Videos, & many YouTube presentations from various Medical Professionals, Chefs & many people who have become Vegan or Wholefoods Plantbased, for many reasons. Mine was primarily for my Health & Wellness, Weight Loss (55#) & to feel better. Which I as many others, have easily achieved. I gave this newly released book 12/2018, only 1 Star for a poor attempt...to help others as, I was unable give a 0.

Get off the medical conveyor belt and start enjoying life!!!
This is a great short read packed with everything you need to know about a plant based way of eating. It also has great recipes and tips for effortless shopping. It’s worth a read. Happy Mew Year and to your excellent health with plenty of energy and lots of money left in your pocket.

Super easy read and vey imformative
A great, easy read! Im not much of a book reader but it was really easy and split up nicely so i didnt feel like I was struggling to get to the end of a chaper. This really has everything you need to know about a plant based vegan diet! Ive been a junk food vegan for 3 years and am excited to start a healthier lifestyle.

Jumpstart Healthy Living
1. Easy to read book about adopting a vegan diet. I've been eating vegan for nearly 3 years and have lost about 30 needed pounds, reversed Type 2 Diabetes shocking my physician, lowering my A1c and blood pressure. I fall off the wagon and get back on. I was looking for a book to send to a friend to encourage her and her family toward healthy living. I think this is the one! I've tried other books but this is very straightforward and not overwhelming in detail. You can find plenty of that elsewhere.2. Yesterday My Orders indicated the package containing this book had arrived and was handed to a resident. It was no where in my house and my husband didn't get it. Tonight I happened to be in the living room when a mail truck drove up and I went out to greet the hardworking mail carrier and save him the few steps up my walkway. He handed me the padded package containing this book. Amazon is usually so honest and reliable, this is a major fail. If they lied about this unimportant thing, what else is fake and fraudulent?

Excellent Summary of Vegan/Plant Base Lifestyle
I've read several books on vegan/plant based life style and this one was a quick read and great summary. This book will come in handy to hand off to someone who is curious about my lifestyle choices.

Excellent summary of the fundamentals of a Whole Food Plant-Based lifestyle by an expert.
Dr. Barnard is one of the primary experts in the Whole Food Plant-Based lifestyle field. I have read most of his and those of the others as well. This book efficiently summarizes the subject and is a practical approach for anyone to implement it. It is a great review for those who have read the literature and a down-to-earth practical approach for those new to the field.

Excellent intro and orientation to a much healthier way of living and eating
Dr. Barnard is such an excellent writer. The book covers just about all the topics you want to know about as you consider, or start on, the path to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. You can look at the table of contents from the book's image on the website to see what the chapters cover. You'll get a good overview of why whole plant foods are good for you, nutrition, and improving health conditions so often caused by poor diet. It's a delightful and quick read, and in the back of the book you get more resources to check out and recipes. I definitely recommend this book to anyone new to the topics of nutrition, plant-based eating, vegetarian or vegan lifestyle.

Save your hard earned cash ... Buy 'How Not to Die instead'
Finished this book in less than an hour and learnt nothing ... the information readily available for free via online resources. This book is a volume sales money making venture!I'm surprised how Dr Bernard advocates the use of vegan junk food.I'm really annoyed I bought this book ... save your money and basically just make sure you eat a wide variety of vegetables, grains, pulses and fruit and take a vitamin B12 and vitamin D supplement.How Not to Die by Dr Greger, is a much better, more comprehensive read.

Great little read
Found it very useful. In particular, loved the sections on rasing your kids vegan and busting myths. If you are new to veganism or have been but not completely there knowledge wise, this is a great little read.It definitely answers all the questions non-vegans tend to throw at you.
