Biodegradable Grass Seed Mat - 50 Sq Ft Bermuda Rye

This product was easy to use and actually worked. I’ve tried several types of grass seed in this area and nothing ever took. I mowed the spot short, raked and watered the hard soil, then soaked the ground and applied this. I also added a bit of extra seed after watering before putting mat down. After multiple failed attempts with regular grass seed, I finally have grass growing.

really wanted this product to work, but unfortunately, it did not live up to the claims. I followed all the instructions exactly as directed—proper ground preparation, consistent watering, and placement—yet I saw little to no grass growth.The concept itself is great—having a biodegradable mat that combines seed, fertilizer, and mulch all in one sounds incredibly convenient. The product is advertised as a simple “roll it out, water, and watch it grow” solution, with seeds protected between layers to prevent washout. However, in my experience, the results did not match that promise at all.Even after giving it ample time and maintaining proper moisture levels, the coverage was very patchy, and in some areas, nothing grew whatsoever. It felt like the seed distribution within the mat was inconsistent, or possibly not viable.For the price and the expectations set by the product description, this was disappointing. Traditional seeding methods have honestly given me better and more reliable results.Overall, I would not recommend this product based on my experience. It may work for some, but it definitely did not perform as described for me.

I prepped the ground and laid quality top soil which cost roughly $50 cents per square foot. I then rolled out the mat and watered it per instructions. Yhe instructions said "no need to stake it down. The matt apeared to stick to the soil when it was wet. I was impressed. The wind picked up a bit that night and when I checked on the Matt it had blown away and was crumpled against a brick wall. I straightedge it out and my wife suggesred that I put more top soil on top of it. That sounded like good advice, so I did. At this point I have spent $1 per square foot on top soil and 1$ per square foot on the mat. I realized I coukd have just bought sod for $2 per square foot instead. After another week of great quality thunderstorm rain water and GA sunshine, I had some good grass in a few areas that came up. Overall, the mat is a fair product, but in the future, I'll just use sod.

I have tried putting down several different brands of grass seed in a particular area of my lawn and have had no luck. I was about to try some of the "spray grasses" but stumbled across this product and glad I did. Here is a quick rundown of my experience. (Area I used this on is sunny half the day and shady the rest of the day.)When I went to purchase I thought 50 square feet would be plenty for my needs. It "just" covered the small area I wanted to do. So to me, it was expensive in comparison to the amount of yard I was using it on. It would be wise to actually measure the area vs. "guestimating" like I did to be safe.The directions included are very clear and straight forward. I followed them to the T and had no issues as expected. This rolls out very nicely and quickly. My watering regimen was three times a day for several weeks. Morning, Afternoon, and Evening.Photo showing the material being freshly put down was 7/31 and my after photo was taken 9/15. (6 weeks)This did the trick and the grass has been doing very well since.So in short, I was happy with the outcome and this did what I needed. Two thumbs up.One tip is to be sure your area is well saturated before putting it down and be on top of the watering schedule for best results.

I was a bit hesitant to order this product because of the mixed reviews, but I decided to try it for myself and I’m glad I did. It actually works! The results aren’t 100% perfect, since in some spots the grass didn’t grow as evenly as in others, though that could just be due to something I did wrong. Overall, I’m happy I gave it a chance.

This product was an expensive mistake. I paid $500, followed every instruction, and instead of growing grass, it caused severe mold and mildew all over my front yard (see photos). The product is clearly defective.What makes this even worse is the unfair 30-day return policy, knowing it takes 8+ weeks for grass seed to even show results. By the time you realize the product doesn’t work, you’re stuck with the damage and no way to return it.I contacted both the manufacturer and Amazon, and they refused to take responsibility. No refund, no replacement, no real support. Just scripted responses and zero accountability. This is terrible customer service, and future buyers deserve to know what they’re walking into.If you value your money, your yard, and your time, DO NOT buy this product. I’m out $500, left with yard damage, and absolutely no help from the company that sold it.

This is terrible. I know it says do not put out in wind but it was a gentle breeze and it was torn to shreds. Had to buy some burlap to cover it as once you water it , it the disintegrates into pulp. Save your money and buy grass seed. Should have gave it a one star is it has been almost a month and no growth.

Easy to place on the ground and just water and watch the grass grow.

We laid this out in April when we had a lot of rain. Perfect conditions for growth and nothing sprouted. If it wasn’t kept wet, it would blow away. Looked awful. Do not buy this. After a few weeks I gave up and pulled it up.
