Growtrax Biodegradable Grass Seed Mat - 50 Sq Ft Bermuda Rye

This Biodegradable grass does not work as stated. After several weeks only three stems of grass appeared. Updated. I did planted the remaining biodegradable grass in a different area with a lot shade, to my surprise the grass is growing after 5 days, it looks like a carpet. Therefore, I need to raise my review to 5 stars to grass. 😎

If I could give it negative I would. Did absolutely nothing and I don't recommend this to anyone,

I have used this before with excellent results. This time around the temperatures were much higher and the weather prevented similar results from the last time. Lesson learned, best to use, if you live in coastal Alabama or similar area, in Spring and early Fall. Update: If you live in along the Gulf Coast or where temperatures are high, you will have poor results. I tried this product in early May with mixed results, but some patches flourished while others did not. Now with August and temperatures hovering around 100 degree the grass is barely surviving; even with constant watering. The seed mix is saying it is rye grass, but I am not convinced when comparing the existing lawn with the patches I used this product. Overall, it is a reasonable solution, when it works, and the temperatures are not hot.

after reading all the reviews I was hesitant to buy. However, needed to fill in patch areas in my yard so I bought one roll of the burmuda and was actually pleasantly surprised. I love how easy it is to spread down and after 4 weeks it started coming in with some really pretty grass! the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it took a while to come in. One thing to note is you have to keep it moist. water at least 2 times a day. I watered 2 to 3 times a day as I live in Calif. and it gets pretty warm in the afternoon. you need to be on top of it every day. Water is the key for this stuff. But the really awesome part.....not one weed came through. its crazy. I'm not sure if that's because I use pre emergent every season which didn't allow any weed seed to germinate or if the grass pad isn't full of weed seed as I expected. I will be getting another roll for other patches in my yard.

I liked the ease of use of the seed mat, how it cuts and lays flat with watering. It can be easily cut with scissors or by hand. I wish it had more seed. I added grass seed by sprinkling it on the surface of the ground and putting the mat OVER it, which worked very well. My grass came up within a week. This worked so well I bought another roll for other areas of my lawn that needed patching. It's important to keep the area moist and to do so by watering frequently. Soil prep is also important. I loosened up the soil with a tiller attachment on my EGO Power multi-head system. After trying numerous products it was nice to find something that works.

This product was an expensive mistake. I paid $500, followed every instruction, and instead of growing grass, it caused severe mold and mildew all over my front yard (see photos). The product is clearly defective. What makes this even worse is the unfair 30-day return policy, knowing it takes 8+ weeks for grass seed to even show results. By the time you realize the product doesn’t work, you’re stuck with the damage and no way to return it. I contacted both the manufacturer and Amazon, and they refused to take responsibility. No refund, no replacement, no real support. Just scripted responses and zero accountability. This is terrible customer service, and future buyers deserve to know what they’re walking into. If you value your money, your yard, and your time, DO NOT buy this product. I’m out $500, left with yard damage, and absolutely no help from the company that sold it.

So depending on the time of year will vary how fast your the grass will grow. We initially bought this product during spring and it grew very fast. We bought it again during winter, and it has been a slow growth. It still grew during winter, but definitely not the way when we initially bought it. Some of the seeds did not sink down all the way during the winter session. You really do need to spray it heavy to get the seeds to get into your dirt. Either way it is a great buy and is perfect for what we needed. A lot of our existing grass went dormant for winter, and turned yellow. However, this grass stayed green all yr long. We are definitely trying to have it takeover our entire lawn. Recommend that you use it during a spring season if you want fast results.

This is terrible. I know it says do not put out in wind but it was a gentle breeze and it was torn to shreds. Had to buy some burlap to cover it as once you water it , it the disintegrates into pulp. Save your money and buy grass seed. Should have gave it a one star is it has been almost a month and no growth.

We laid this out in April when we had a lot of rain. Perfect conditions for growth and nothing sprouted. If it wasn’t kept wet, it would blow away. Looked awful. Do not buy this. After a few weeks I gave up and pulled it up.
