In the past, I usually buy Sanford Carmine-Red, which were quite good. Did that for some 30 years. I had bought a lot, and seems like the old pencils I had stored for several years .. the red color material had dried up or something, so the color no longer transfers to document so well. These Sanford pencils are not cheap. I tried this INTEGRA brand. It was relatively cheap, and had Free Returns - in case I did not like it. Turns out pretty good. I don't find any problems with sharpening them. No breakage etc. JUST ORDERED another two dozens .. so I don't have to think about buying again for a while. // I paid $2.88 for 1 dozen, which is hard to beat. // It is quite true that the red color of these Integra pencils do not erase well with a regular eraser. For me that is not a big problem.
