Ive tried many of the cheaper brands, but for the quality and price having both a brush and razor Blackwood & Shelby is now my go to brand for shaving. Just buy it honest. Very simple design traditional design but executed really well.Frankly its years since Ive done a review on anything but I'm so impressed I'll do one for them.PS Blackwood & Shelby Brush is brilliant too !

I have to be honest, I did put it together wrong and thought it was a useless bit of kit, the website was down and I was beginning to feel I'd been ripped off. When I eventually realised my error. Doh! I put it back together the right way and Wow, the cleanest shave I've ever had, and at 57 I've had a few. I have a £350 electric razor which is good, I have a £145 cut throat and tried many other top brand types. This razor is the dogs bollox, it takes every bit of whisker without even trying, You have to take your time and and follow the guidelines for using a double edge blade razor. Forget your 3, 4, and 5 blade razors, go for a Blackwood and shelby double edge blade razor, you won't regret it.

Had mine almost a year now and the only two issues I've had are that the head plate is a little shorter than most commercial blades so there's essentially a sharp edge on all four sides of the head. As a three piece razor it's also a bit disconcerting when a fourth section on the gandl5comes apart leaving you unable to unscrew the top three pieces to change the blade. Had to glue it back together in order to take it apart! Other than that it's a great gentle razor in almost daily use.

Lovely razor, it's my first choice from my (small) collection at the moment. Have tried the usual array of blades with it and no complaints with any, although my weapon of choice currently is the Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless.The handle is longer than most of my others but it is comfortable to hold, no slipping.I think I'll treat myself to the black one as well, for no other reason other than I like it so much.I'm not very good at assessing whether it's a mild or aggressive razor, but will say that it shaves as close as I need.Will look out for other products from this manufacturer.

this is a very long razor compared to all my others. the finish is excellent, comes in a nice presentation box i have another blackwood & shelby razor with a bamboo handle, this latest black handle razor is still longer than that one . it should shave very nice if it shaves like my other blackwood & shelby.

The razor lasted for 3 years and then fell apart while my husband was shaving. He was very lucky not to cut himself

I bought as a gift. Got to love it's the vintage look and sturdy feel. It's a nice and well made product with simple and sleek lines. Comes with instructions, which I appreciate. Can't tell much about the shaving properties but I guess I'm getting one for my legs at some point...doesn't come with blades, so make sure you buy one with it.
