Review for T-Mobile (Metro PCS) network users.
Iāve had the Honor 8X for about six weeks now. Iām writing this review primarily for T-Mobile (Metro PCS) customers, but others may find some value in it. There is a lot of confusion regarding the Honor 8X and compatibility with the frequencies (bands) used in the US market. Iām not an expert by any means, but Iāve done a lot of research and obviously purchased the phone. Iām with Metro PCS, so my research is based on T-Mobileās network. Iām providing what I learned in order to hopefully help others make a well informed decision.First things first⦠make sure you receive the JSN-L23 model of this phone for use in the States. If they send you anything else, I would return it immediately and order another one from a different seller. This phone supports the following bands & speeds. Please note this phone does support LTE- Advanced which, in theory, is much faster than standard LTE. A lot of your phoneās speed of course will depend on your location and carrier. There are numerous maps on the internet that detail a carrierās coverage area with speed test results. If you look this phone up, make sure you click JSN-L23.TechnologyGSM / HSPA / LTE2G bandsGSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 23G bandsHSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 21004G bandsLTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 28(700), 41(2500)SpeedHSPA, LTE-AT-Mobileās primary band is band 4 with the secondary band being band 2. T-Mobile also operates on bands 12, 66 & 71 which this phone does not support. Band 12 has been getting a lot of press recently because T-Mobile is working to expand their network coverage. Band 12 is a low frequency band that extends further out while also being able to more easily penetrate structures such as office buildings, so you get a better signal in more rural areas as well as at work for example or inside a store. What people donāt talk about though is band 12ās limited availability. More likely than not, you arenāt even in an area that utilizes band 12. To see a map of implemented and planned band 12 deployments, you can easily find that information on the internet. If you just have to have a phone that supports band 12, I would suggest the Huawei Mate SE US version. It is very similar to the Honor 8X with a 5.93ā display and a couple of other differences, but it supports a large number of LTE bands (2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12 & 17). The Mate 20 Lite also appears to be comparable and supports band 12 and has some additional features not available on the Mate SE.Iām not sure why, but a lot of reviewers on Amazon said this phone does not support 4G LTE. There is no LTE designation when my Wi-Fi is on, however when Iām not using Wi-Fi, 4G LTE is clearly visible next to the signal meter.Just a couple of other general points I wanted to share:⢠The SD card is primarily available to store media content only. From what I read, you cannot download or move apps to the SD card using the stock OS and I really donāt see that option on my phone either.⢠It took about a week before I received the update to Android 9 Pie. Some folks seem to get the update immediately, but mine came a few days later.⢠The Huawei user Interface is straight forward and user friendly.

Definitely works on Metro/T-mobile with 4G
So I upgraded my phone from the honor 5x to this just today.First off let me address the Metro/T-mobile subject. I have this service in California and I'm writing this review with 4 FULL bars of 4G so it does in fact work.Second let me address the phone itself. So far it's super fast clear and a much needed upgrade from my 5x. The phone clone feature went flawlessly for me and ported over everything. These Huawei phones are really a steal in comparison to others for the features you get. I upgraded because the 5 just does not have the capacity to handle many apps and became mind numbingly laggy otherwise it's was a great phone. Time will tell on this one and I will certainly update this in the future. Daughter just got the iPhone x and where as before gave me crap about Pic quality now honestly she can't see a difference šMy biggest FEAR was this being an international version and all the miss information about working on metro/T-mobile. No worries there it works great

4G LTE & LTE - A WORKS ON AT&T - Used in Houston Texas and Greater Houston Area - GREAT PHONE
I picked up this phone for a friend who was going to use a spare line on my AT&T account in Houston Texas and Greater Houston Area. The shipping was outstanding with the device being packaged well. Comes with a screen protector preinstalled, a case, and headphones (in addition to the USB micro charger). The screen is full HD (close to ultrawide resolution) with crisp and bright colors. Very snappy android experience (surprising to me as i'm an iPhone user). The camera snaps we took came out pretty well, as well as the portrait mode. This phone has a premium and flagship feeling without the flagship price. Battery life is good as well, but charging will take longer than its USB-C offerings by Honor. While some bands are missing for AT&T, full voice & data is supported. 5 bars with LTE speeds no issue. Not once did i drop to 3G.The phone supports up to 400GB microSD card which is nice for media downloading hogs, and has two sim slots (this is more appropriate for international customers, but is nice if you want to get a cheap voice and text only plan with cricket, and then getting an unlimited data plan with Fi or freedomPOP.).9/10.Pros:Supports AT&T LTE fullyBuild quality is flagship equivalentScreen quality is amazing, and the notch can be hidden by softwareThe LCD is laminated to the glass, which increases the viewing angles dramatically, and increases brightnessCamera quality is competitive with flagships, and supports Portrait ModeHas face unlock and fingerprint readerSupports high capacity microSDQuick Bootup and shutdownQuick and snappy responsiveness from CPUComes with a case and screen protector preinstalledHEADPHONE JACK & HEADPHONES!Cons:Micro USB - Slow to charge (but cheap cables to buy)Mono speakerFingerprint magnet9/10
