Golden Open Acrylic Landscape, Set Of 8 Multi

These Golden Open acrylic paints are the best! I absolutely love painting with them. When I began painting in regular acrylics this past spring, it was hard to convert from watercolors - which allowed me all the time in the world to work and blend the colors the way I wanted. I had heard about the open variety of acrylics from Golden, so had ordered me a few tubes in varies colors. While they still dry quicker than I sometimes would like, they do take longer to dry - thus allowing more time for blending and working. If I want longer drying still, I use the Golden retarder.One thing I really like about these open acrylics, is that I can paint wet-on-wet. If colors begin to dry before I have worked them the way I want, I just spray that area with a fine mister (distilled water), and keep going. Another benefit of Golden Open Acrylics is that paint waste is minimal. I purchased a pallet that has wells for 12 tiny containers with air-tight lids. I fill them with the landscape colors, paint away, every now and again lightly misting them if painting for long periods of time; when I finish painting for the day, I simply put the lids on the containers, and stow my palette away until I want to paint again. No discarding what I have squeezed out of the tube but not used! Properly stored (the way I am doing), the paint remains usable for 3 weeks or more. And the colors in this landscape set are perfect for nature/outdoor/landscape works. I love how well colors blend. I like to layer. At the end of my paint day, I set the canvas aside to dry; next day the paint is dry enough that I am able to layer and glaze without disturbing paint already on the canvas. When I am finished with a piece, I do allow it curing time; 3-4 days before applying glaze, acrylic, or varnish. I uploaded 2 pictures to demonstrate the color blending and shading. The one with green water is completed and already had a layer of varnish over it when I took the picture. The second one, with dramatic fluffy clouds and blue water, isn't complete yet (I still have shading on Mt. Baker to do, water detail, and finer detail on the houses along the jut of land (Oak Harbor).Whether you are a beginner, relatively new to painting (like I am), or have been painting for years, Golden Open Acrylics are a top-notch acrylic paint choice. They may cost a bit more than some of the other acrylic brands, but colors are vibrant, paint is silky and workable, the open variety gifts a longer drying time - which allows the artist more blending/working time - and they are still reasonably priced. When you store left over paint properly, they remain usable for weeks + (I have painted with some that I had stored away for nearly 2 months!) - which means less waste. To me, these paints are top quality, and a more prudent choice than any other.

It stays Wet longer than other acrylics and therefore you can get the look of an oil painting with this type of acrylic paint. I love it and have been using it for years.

I used my Golden Open Acrylic Landscape set today. It was my first time to use Golden's Open line. I love the fact that they don't dry so fast as the Heavy Body line. Even though I have to wait longer for my painting to dry, the paints on my palette stay wet longer which gives me more time to work. I love this set. Great colors in it.

I have never really painted with acrylics but these are delightful! They paint exactly like Cobra water mixable oil paint and look like an oil painting when finished! I coat them with liquin to seal them.

I have mixed feelings because the paint really does stay open longer without drying too tacky. However, the colors change noticeably after drying, it is too thick without a medium, and this kit specifically has some disappointing colors. The fact that it is so thick is an issue because a thick layer will dry extremely slowly so you really need a medium (by OPEN) to prevent ruining your layers as it dries from the surface downwards. However, using it with OPEN's medium matte has helped quite a bit with the flow of the paint and I recommend only buying this if you also buy a matte or gloss medium because only using the thinner in this kit really sacrifices the pigment.

Wonderful set of paints! The blendability is amazing...need a faster drytime for more detail, add a regular acrylic. The quality of the pigment is also excellent. So much so, I'm looking forward to adding "regular" acrylics and mediums from Golden. Excellent stuff!!!Picture is 10x20 Golden Open Acrylics landscape set.

Golden Open acrylic are ideal for outdoors because they take a bit longer to dry so you have a better chance to block and blend in your painting. Good smooth quality paint.

Loved how the paint stays open for longer without drying too quickly (main reason I paint with oils is because of blending qualities of wet into wet painting), dislike how all acrylic paints dry to a different tone compared to when wet, makes value judgement a little tougher. Would recommend these paints to professional or more serious acrylic painters and encourage beginners to use less expensive paints to start with before building up to these paints.

Took a little time to get there but when it did I was able to start painting. Golden though pricey is the paint professionals use.

Die Farben sind schön und leicht zu verarbeiten. Tatsächlich sind sie lange offen und kaum mit gewöhnlichen Acrylfarben zu vergleichen. Selbst mit Retarder kann man die normalen Acrylfarben nicht so lange offen halten wie diese hier.Ein Stern Abzug für den hohen Preis und dass in den Auswahlen nur entweder Weiß oder Schwarz aber nie beides gleichzeitig mit enthalten ist.
