This book of Psalms is a wish come true. Years ago Barnes & Noble made a similar book of psalms in the KJV. I always hoped another publisher would put out one like it in a different translation. Crossway indeed did so. And this book is done so very well, befitting the majesty of the psalms. It is straight text, no footnotes or other "helps" cluttering the text. Even the verse numbers are offset in smaller print in the margin, so they're less noticeable. The "selah"s as well are offset in the right margin, and less noticeable. Each psalm begins on a new page. The text is well-spaced, making it a comfortable and relaxing read. The size is just right in the hand, about the size of a paperback book, but much higher in quality. The cover and binding are very durable. To me, this is a perfect book for one who enjoys reading the Psalms regularly. I recall hearing that Billy Graham read through the Psalms every month, five per day. This edition would help make that a pleasurable practice.

I have really enjoyed this volume. TruTone is not genuine leather but never claimed to be. The pages are parchment-like -- a soft shade of yellow with a degree of thickness to them. To my surprise, I can highlight passages, and it NEVER bleeds through because of this "thickness." I wish all my bibles would do this. Each psalm is displayed on its own pages.. It makes it a real joy to read and treats each psalm as a featured treasure, which it truly is. I like large print, but this print is very readable for me. The print on the soft yellow is easy on one's eyes. I highly recommend this book.

I love this edition of the Psalms, and have been using this book daily in prayer. It has the aesthetic of a prayer book, with its sturdy imitation leather cover and ribbon marker. While it fits easily into the hand, it is not so small that the print is tiny. The single column layout and beautiful typesetting make it easy to read.This English Standard Version of the Bible is in contemporary English without losing any of the poetry of the Authorized (King James) Version. The cadences and language are closer to older translations, and yet it doesn't read at all like an arcane artifact. For me, this is important especially with the Psalms.All said, this is a beautiful edition of the Psalms.

This is a fantastic, well produced collection of the Psalms. The paper is thick and the letters are well sized and easy to read. I keep this book on the nightstand and the wife and I read one Psalm every morning before getting started with our day. I highly recommend this book of Psalms.

For decades I have been looking for a nicely-bound volume of the Psalms alone. After reading previous reviews of the leather-bound version, I chose the simulated leather, and I am very happy with it. The binding is tight, and the outer cover is smooth, soft and stitched down. It comes in a folding box cover rather than a slip case, but it is still nice to have that added protection. The text design, with Psalm numbers in a subtle red, is elegant, and my favorite aspect is that each Psalm is presented individually, with blank space or pages at the end of each to delineate it. I will be using this as a personal prayer book, and in that regard, I would have preferred a different translation, but other than that, this book will serve my purpose very well.

Outstanding book in every way  — and I am very picky regarding books! Also, this book comes with a nice slip cover. Not sure if I’ll use it but nice to have. The book cover is either leather or imitation  — either way, it looks/feels great and high quality. Text is not too small and pages are clean with room to take a few notes. (Book is so nice looking that I’m hesitant to write in it!)Drawbacks? Well, if you don’t like the ESV translation, that would be one. The size is smaller but not pocket size  — a bit larger than a paperback. To me, it is the perfect size. And, this is not a study book with notes  — just the Psalms, which is exactly what I want. (No clutter of footnotes and cross-references.)Again, this is near-perfect or if not just down-right perfect! Excellent work Crossways!

I love it. The book looks great and seems to be made well. The text is nicely laid out and easy to read. It feels good in the hand.The paper has the sturdiness and opacity of quality book paper. I much prefer this thicker paper to the typical wispy bible paper.One downside is that it doesn't want to lay flat on it's own for hands-free reading. Not important to me, but might be to some.

I love this Pslams book! I was worried that it would be bigger: but it is the perfect size as in the description.I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is thinking of purchasing it!

In recent years there hasn't been many Publishers publishing Psalters which I think is a real shame, so when I heard the ESV were doing one I was quite excited and naturally ordered one.I have to say I think the ESV have done an amazing job with this publication of the Psalms.The Tru Tone binding is very well made and looks great. Also comes in a smart looking presentation box.They have used quite thick high quality paper so you don't get excessive bleed through.The type face is very clear and easy to read and is also laid out in a single column format.This edition of the Psalms would be great for devotional use and also for use in public Worship.I am sure this publication of the Psalms will be used by many as the read and explore this wonderful portion of God's word.

I have bought the soft leather version which is well bound and comes in a strong carry case. It is a lovely object to hold and read. I am elderly but have no problem reading the print, indeed the whole book is exquisite, lovely to hold, beautiful to look at and, of course, one of the few psalters available. It would make a wonderful gift for a person of any age.
