Provale Regulating Drinking Cup, Dispenses 10cc of Liquid Each Time The Cup Is Put Down and Lifted

This cup was recommended by my brother’s Speech Therapist and it has been a game changer. No choking when taking in water anymore since each sip is regulated to dispense 10 cc each time. We still have to give him his pills with applesauce, but this cup allows him to wash down the applesauce afterward. Simple to dispense: tilt to drink then return to position parallel position to reset. Assembling it was a bit tricky, but if you read and follow the instructions it works well. Be sure the inner parts snap together. Also, be sure the top outer lid snaps tightly to the rim of the cup. I had a few drips because I didn’t secure it tight enough. Only full water to the fill line and don’t go over that line. Because the line is faint, I used a sharpie pen to mark the fill line on the outside. All the best. It’s been a good investment for us.

This cup is WONDERFUL! My son has a tracheotomy and he has problems with eating and drinking. This cup only allows a total of 10 cc. at a time and so that helps prevent him from taking too many fluids at one time and prevents aspiration. I had to buy this cup again because he threw his cup and it cracked... so I couldn't hardly wait to get another one back in. I would certainly suggest you try this cup if you might have the same problems as I have. It's not inexpensive, but certainly worth not having aspiration problems.

It does provide fairly accurate amount of liquid dispensed but it started leaking after about 2mths and the company didn't help or replace it. For the amount of money it is (I paid about $45) i thought the product would have been better.

My daughters speech therapist urged us to get this cup for her. It is working great. She had trouble with a traditional cup causing her to cough. The regulated 10cc has worked great in preventing her from gulping. I just wanted to pass on that the speech person did a viscosity test to see if the creamy Boost was too thick. It was not but you do have to tip the cup a little bit longer than with thinner liquids. I also want people to be aware that while it doesn't take too much strength to attach the brown top to the cup portion but it does take a lot to attach the 2 brown parts to each other as well as to take them apart to wash. On another topic, I would like to know why they don't make the 10cc in blue. My daughter was not to thrilled with a boring brown color cup.

Amazon rejected my previous review because I noted whether or not it is worth the money. So I won't mention that. The handles do not stay on and they don't stay fully locked in. So the cup wobbles on the tips of the handles. The cup is extremely hard to open. You want it hard so the patient can't easily open it, but I've been using it for a week and every time I finally am able to pull hard enough to open it, whatever liquid is left in it sprays on me and the counter.

We were told about this cup by the rehab facility my brother was in after suffering a stroke that affected his swallowing. He is able to drink on his own with this as it stringently regulates the amount of fluid. Prior he had to be given liquids one spoonfull at a time. One of the pieces of the original cup broke in less than 3 months. We were able to purchase that piece, but needed a new cup immediately as the piece was on back order. Also price is very cost prohibitive for someone on a fixed income. The nursing home, Medicaid and Medicare would NOT pay for these and Medicaid only allows him to keep $30 per month of his social security. The top pulls off the cup rather than twisting, which I have seen confuse the care staff. Sometimes when they refill his cup they put the drinking spout over the handle making it impossible for him to drink so some kind of marking showing the correct placement would be helpful. The fill line is difficult to see which also has caused some confusion-an upgrade to safety would be for this line to be colored or thicker.

Will meet the needs well

The concept is good for people who aspirate. The cup lid broke within a month. No good for people who drop things because of hand issues. Pretty expensive.

A very expensive cup but it was really helpful for my poorly mother.

Everything works well but the handles are no good.

This cup cost over 40 pounds needed for my disabled husband it arr8ved in a damaged cardboard box with the lid damaged no time to replace not good enough

It worth the money.

An absolutely USELESS special drinking cup for the purpose it is made for - useless for use in hospital, care home or nursing home for the purpose indicated. Even the nurses and carers agree! Very expensive, not worth a penny. Very bad, thoughtless design - absolutely useless!
