Barbie My Favorite Time Capsule 1977 Superstar Doll

First of all, I had this doll when I was 9 so finding it decades later is just amazing. It is not exactly like the original but it is pretty good. The best reproduced items, I think, are her face and the dress. Her waist does twist, and probably is better than the original in that it does not swing so it can hold a position. Knees do bend. The pink boa comes it two pieces, but if not removed from box, one would never know. I was happily surprised to find the hair is sun-streaked; it is just that the overall hair color is much lighter than the original. It is also subtly styled differently than original (check direction of the flip). The plastic of the shoes is slightly harder than I remember, but look identical. There are black shoes to match the second outfit hidden under the black boa. The black boa is in one piece and long. The black dress is shorter than the original Barbie fashion. However it is well displayed in the box and getting two outfits for one price is a pretty good value. Another great feature is the reproduction booklet and picture cards in the box. If you had it before and want it back--definitely buy realizing these subtle differences will likely be overlooked in the joy of touching your childhood again.

The doll was one of the better dolls in the time capsule collection but was just average with no special features.

I had this Barbie when I was a little girl. I remember when my dad bought it for me. Then my (at the time) mean older brother ruined it! I was so sad. Imagine my surprise when, a few years ago, I found this doll again. I had to get it. The toy companies sure know what they are doing by bringing back all of the toys we loved (or wanted) as kids so that we buy them for our own kids.
