The Ancient Egyptian Tarot Hardcover – February 25, 2004

...made to believe tarot cards are included especially, with posted reviews. ...book only, incomplete set, doesn't make sense. Misunderstood.

This is my first tarot deck (after searching for over a month), so I can only comment based on first impression. The deck's appearance is enough to just gaze at each card for hours. The artistry is amazing. Each card looks like it took hours of painstaking research and attention. The colors are vivid, and the characters are so expressive and realistic (no Barbie doll or palid figures). The characters seem to gaze back at you. Each card is a window into ancient Egyptian life, what they wore, how they lived and how they viewed their deities. What's great is that they're labeled according to the standard tarot deck, (i.e. High Priestess, Death, etc.) But if you look closely there's more symbolism unique to Ancient Egypt (ie. the lotus, ibis, papyrus, etc.). I'd imagine you can use this deck for years and still find new ways of interpreting the cards.The book included is straightforward and easy to read. It does a good job explaining the cards and details unique to the deck. For complex spread arrangements, do get a supplemental book on the tarot.If you're looking for a deck that's a little more "ethnic" and easier to understand (vs. the New Orleans Voodoo Deck) get this one. At any rate, if you're into collecting tarot decks or just looking for something new, get this one. You won't be disappointed. I love this deck so much that I don't see myself getting another one anytime soon.

Book in great condition. Now to find the deck! I like collecting tarot books but I wish kits weren’t separated.

It's just the book. Which was in wonderful quality. Just wish the description specifically stated it does not come with the cards

It took me a while to find these at a reasonable price; many listed are quite expensive. They take a little getting used to and the 'princess card' is a little disconcerting if you are used to the 'page' card. Nicely illustrated, but not too happy that the back of the card indicates whether card is right way up or reversed. These cards are better than a lot out there but I am still working on getting used to them. I have high hopes!

This is the most gorgeous inspiring tarot deck I've ever used...but I mistakenly ordered this particular product thinking it came with the cards. It's just the book. Book + cards = $$$$ They graciously took the book back and paid for shipping. Save yourself the time if you are looking for the full package.

A beautiful rendition of Egyptian mythos. The cards are clear and very detailed. Each card is related to the previous and next but also stands on its own. I liked it because all the cards, not just the Majors, are completely illustrated. The book that accompanies the Tarot cards is excellent at describing the images on the card but not so good at giving a definition of the card in a spread. For that, try reading "Power Tarot : More Than 100 Spreads That Give Specific Answers to Your Most Important Questions" by Trish MacGregor and Phyllis Vega.

Returned expected cards and book due to description. Amazon's dealt with the matter extremely efficiently
