Metal Handle instead of Plastic! Excellent.
Fabulous product. Worked perfectly on 2002 Avalanche, much sturdier than the factory part. The rod clips must be turned so that they latch on the TOP to avoid failure. My only complaint is with Amazon search- I went through eight pages of results for "Avalanche tailgate handle" and this one never appeared, even though it has more and better reviews than nearly all the plastic ones. The only reason I found it is because a few days after ordering one of the plastic ones, this appeared in the "recommended items" when I was buying something completely different.

Perfect fit
Can be difficult to wrangle back into the opening in the tailgate, but a chunk of the fiberglass getting in your way can be cut down without consequence. Only had the handle on for a month or so but it feels quality and works perfectly

Solid,metal upgrade!
I broke the tailgate handle on my 2003 Chevy Avalanche. Wanted to upgrade to all metal as the OEM has a plastic handle. This fit perfectly and works well. The only complaint is not about the product but the installation, it's a PITA to get in. I broke the plastic rod retainer tab clip that lifts the tailgate and dropped the other one inside. Do yourself a favor and purchase extra clips because you will probably need them.*Hint/suggestion to manufacturer: If this could come with an extra set of plastic retainer clips,it would be amazing.

Easy to install
My friend brought over his brand "new" truck to show me. I promptly broke the handle off his tailgate. I ordered this one to replace it. He's happy again. Haha

Sturdy handle.
The media could not be loaded. Handle is made with good materials, fairly easy to install. Operation is flawless so far. This was installed on my 2005 Chevy Avalanche, reasonable price too.

OEM quality
Installation will go better if you watch a video. It's not overly difficult but precise positioning is required to work it into place. It's a nice quality replacement and has worked perfectly since I installed it.

Solid build. Appears to be a quality part
I just installed this yesterday but I will update this review in a few months or if anything changes....So far, so good. I was tempted at first to buy one of the replacements that are half the price which I saw on Amazon but saw they had a lot of mixed reviews and decided to go for this more expensive one which is still a lot cheaper than buying the OEM GM part. Right out of the package, this does feel like a good quality, solid build. The plastic clips have actual plastic hinges, not simply thin bendable plastic ends and feel pretty strong and secure. Still, they are plastic and you have to treat them appropriately because they can break (just like any plastic piece) if you don't. My guess is that those saying that the clips broke had that happen more as a result of user error than due to a fault in the part itself. It takes a bit of moving around to get the handle into position so if you aren't careful, it could be fairly easy to snap off a plastic clip but that's because of how GM designed the tailgate, not because of how the part is built. Also, the handle is most definitely fully metal. One reviewer below said it's not and I'm thinking he either got the wrong part, wrote his review on the wrong listing, or doesn't know what metal is. It appears to be cast aluminum and is finished with a slightly textured, matte finish so it more closely matches the plastic housing that goes around the latch. This can give it a plastic appearance but it certainly isn't plastic. With a metal handle though, something to be aware of is that it can get scratched and the sliver will show through which you won't get with a plastic handle like with the original.I highly recommend this replacement part. The seller shipped it very quickly, it fits exactly like my old part, and it installed exactly as I expected it would from watching youtube videos.

Does the job
The orange clip broke on mine while I was putting the rod in so I had to take it out and place the green one from my old on on and it worked.Quality of the base and handle is good. Missing one star because of the poor quality clips.
