The suspense is still there
I saw this movie when it come to the theatre . Even tough I know the premise of the movie, I still find it intense and captivating after all this time.

This rating applies to the blu-ray presentation only.
I just got my first blu-ray player and it's an excellent machine. I played my first two Blu-ray disks today: Clear and Present Danger and this one: Airport. Clear and Present Danger was awesome. Next I couldn't wait to enjoy Airport, one of my all-time favorites. (This is the third time I've bought it, not counting VHS). And it was pretty disappointing. I was anticipating a high resolution picture with rich, vibrant colors. And it looks very similar to my regular DVD version. All I can say is, I think I see a slight enhancement and I think the 5.1 surround was a bit stronger and that's about it. There isn't even a menu screen. No extras but the trailer. This is a classic movie and a smash with audiences. Universal, you really let us down. This should have been a labor of love, but you didn't seem to put anything into this presentation. And this wonderful movie deserved the very best and so did all of us movie fans. Shame on you.

Great Movie, But Be Aware the Digital Redemption Code Has Expired
Seeing this movie at age 10, and later reading the novel it's based on - a must for any airline/airport/aviation enthusiast - motivated me to spend much of my career in the amazing airline industry. In 20 memorable years, there were only a handful of times it felt like I was going to work.About this particular item, the picture quality and sound are amazing, but be aware that the Ultraviolet code EXPIRED on May 2, 2016 and can no longer be redeemed. Since the Blu-Ray alone is $8 more than the Blu-Ray/Ultraviolet version, you're still better off to buy this one. Still, it's disappointing and the seller should note the expiration for integrity's sake.

I really like this movie
I really like this movie. The Bluray looks really good, almost light seeing it in the theatre for the first time. Great cast, Dean Martin, Helen Hayes, George Kennedy and a very young Jaqueline Bisset. I saw this movie when it came out in 1970 while visiting New York. I was 12 and I loved it as a kid, I like even better now. The "disaster film" that started it all. Highly recommended.

Movie library must have
I unfortunately purchased this blu-ray just before they release the entire airport series as a set. That being said, I was only displeased I didn't get the best deal going on this great movie, but was never disappointed in the product. great picture, well worth whatever you end out paying for it.

superb!!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this superb DVD. The camera work, sound and footage is excellent. Also much of the programme is actually filmed 'airside' actually beside the runway. There is no music or commentary just the sound of whining engines brilliant!!If you love large heavy freighters then this is the programme for you UPS 747, MD11 & 767 freighters FEDEX, you name it they are all here!!Anchorage for me seems to be the world leader for big heavy cargo flights which stage through here from the Far East to the USA Canada etc.

'A Great Movie With An All-Star Cast!'
I liked the movie very much! It was scary in parts but at least it had a good ending! All the actors and actresses in the movie were very good and I watched the movie with my late mother years ago. I have a fear of flying and one day I will get over my fear of flying! I felt bad for the character Gwen who was injured in the blast because she was pregnant. I am glad she and the baby survived. REST IN POWER to the following actors and actresses: Mr. George Harris Kennedy, Jr. (February 18, 1925-February 28, 2016); Mr. Lew Brown (March 18, 1925-July 27, 2014); Mr. John Clark Howat (January 22, 1918-October 30, 2009); Ms. Leoda Richards (nee Leoda Carole Knapp) (March 15, 1907-February 7, 1998); Mr. Albert Reed, Jr. (January 28, 1910-May 31, 1986); Mr. Burton Stephen 'Burt' Lancaster (November 2, 1913-October 20, 1994); Mr. Dean Martin (ne Dino Paul Crocetti) (June 7, 1917-December 25, 1995); Ms. Helen Hayes MacArthur (October 10, 1900-March 17, 1993); Ms. Jean Dorothy Seberg (November 13, 1938-August 30, 1979); Mr. Emmett Evan 'Van' Helfin, Jr. (December 13, 1908-July 23, 1971); Ms. Lois Maureen Stapleton (June 21, 1925-March 13, 2006); Ms. Barbara Hale (August 18, 1922-January 26, 2017); Mr. Barry Nelson (ne Robert Haakon Nielson) (April 16, 1917-April 7, 2007); Ms. Dana Wynter (nee Dagmar Winter) (June 8, 1931-May 5, 2011); Mr. Lloyd Benedict Nolan (August 11, 1902-September 27, 1985); Mr. Gary Ennis Collins (April 30, 1938-October 13, 2012); Ms. Jessie Royce Landis (nee Jessie Medbury) (November 25, 1896-February 2, 1972); Mr. John Findlater (August 28, 1943-February 21, 2019); Mr. Lawrence Wheaton Gates (September 24, 1915-December 12, 1996); Mr. Whitner Nutting Bissell (October 25, 1909-March 5, 1996); Mr. Robert Patten (ne Robert Fitz Randolph Patten) (October 11, 1925-December 29, 2001); Mr. James Nolan (November 29, 1915-July 29, 1985); Mr. Peter Turgeon (December 25, 1919-October 6, 2000): 'You all may be gone but you will never, ever be, forgotten.'

The BEST an Airport can GET! (Thanks!)
I remember, when I was just a boy, the gang from my street all caught a bus downtown together to see this movie on our city's theatre row (now a seedy grungy, & too dangerous place for kids!) Back then, a whole day was shot as we were unanimous about staying in the stale-popcorn-smelling grand old theatre and watching it again and again, to ride the bus home after dark, spouting lines from Dean Martin, Burt Lancaster, and of course, the legendary actress gone rogue-stowaway, Helen Hayes. The years passed; they made a host of sequels which may have made it to your late, late movie on local TV, but they all paled in comparison to this self-proclaimed: "Lavish Production". If you've missed it so far, you are in for a treat, so BUCKLE UP!......"SNOW DESK!"

Retro airport movie.
I bought it for my own viewing, and was frankly, disappointed. I found it boring . . . not the suspenseful, airplane movies that I used to enjoy. Would not buy again.
