Ski & Snowboard Wax - Non Toxic - Biodegradable - No Fluoros

Hard to scrape, easy to love.
I've been using purl waxes for a few years and I recently decided that maybe I should get a colder wax for winter conditions instead of just using the purple. Purl is notoriously hard to scrape, but very long lasting and as a bonus isn't as bad for the environment as regular CF or LF waxes. Purl goes on smooth when it hardens, is quite possibly the hardest wax to scrape in existence. However, a quick fiberline aided wax job lasted me 5-6 days of not ideal Midwestern riding. Make sure to get the wax layer as thin as possible before scraping. Do yourself a favor and buy a scraper and scraper sharpener, and Purl will keep your board or skis in shape for less money and longer than traditional hydrocarbon wax. I've been using purl purple for 2-3 years and still have 1/2 a brick left. I normally wax two snowboards 3-4 times a season and a set of skis at least once.

First time "waxer"
Have been wanting to learn how to do this for a while now. Especially since the whole family is up on the mountain now and a wax and edge/tune at the shops is $20-$30 each. Then throw in a family trip to Colorado coming up.Borrowed a buddies iron and scrapers and bought the 1# block and set to work. After some YouTube and work I ended up doing 3 snowboard and 5 pairs of skis. Like some of the other reviews stated a lot of wax seems to end up on the ground. Which could just be me putting on too much wax in the first place. Even with that I only used a little more than half the block. As far as the performance, worked super well. Temps on the mountain didn't get above 21F and everything worked super well. No sticking or stalling at all. Will definitely use the rest of this block and see how "all temps" goes!

NOT A 1 LB. BLOCK: ONLY 15.25 OZ.
I ordered so-called "1 LB" blocks of PURL Purple and PURL Blue wax. Both blocks actually weighed in at 15.25 oz. See photos.15.25 oz. is not 1 lb.How about a little more Truth-in-Advertising...UPDATE:I contacted Purl Wax regarding the shortage, and the following was their explanation:"All our waxes are hand poured by humans which means there will be minor variations in pour weight. While we always aim for the 1lb mark (16 oz), at times they can run slightly less or more (hence the .75 oz difference being within a normal variance range). "Purl Wax did send me additional purple and blue wax to make up the shortage, which I received.

Warm Weather Bias
I just started using Purl All Temp Wax this season in CO. It performed well in the early season on man-made snow with temperatures in the 15-30F range. If temperatures are consistently lower than 20F, this wax causes skis to get a little sticky. I think I’m going to try layering the Purl Blue (cold) and Purple (all-temp) as the weather starts to get consistently colder. On the plus side, Purl is pretty durable. I get 3-4 days out of a wax on hard-packed groomers before a noticeable decline in performance.

Durable, Inexpensive, reasonably fast and has held up well in a variety of conditions.
This is a big chunk of wax, it will last me a long time. It doesn't have any weird smells and it seems to be very durable. It seems to melt a slightly higher temperature than I was used to but it moves very well and sets up hard and scrapes very well as long as you have a very sharp scraper although it took a moderately high amount of effort. I typically have used Swix and One Ball Jay waxes in the past and this seemed to take a bit more effort to melt and scrape but flowed out better and lasted longer the the One Ball Jay did. The gray buff pad it came with is pretty decent as well.I chose to use an all temp wax this time and it has turned out well, and I haven't felt the need to use any top coat on it. We used our boards in powder in Utah as well as the usual Arizona hard pack and manmade groomers and even some icey night time winching and it seems to have held up very well. I would definitely buy it again.

So far so good
First time using PURL wax. Ill update after a couple more rides. First impressions are the wax flows easily and is absorbed well. It definitely is on the tougher side for scraping. I made sure my scraper was well sharpened, but definitely harder than my lib tech wax. First ride was great, very smooth and fast. We shall see how it holds up. I gave five stars right off the bat, but will update if it doesnt hold up well over a couple rides

Great winter wax, but not quite "all-temp."
Great wax when used strictly in the temperature range specified. This is an obvious point, but one worth mentioning as some buyers may see "all-temp" and not look past that. If you typically ride in a region that is warmer in general (Lake Tahoe for example), you may want to consider a wax that works better in warmer temperatures when that time comes as this wax doesn't glide too well in springtime conditions.
