How do you get snow type ice?

You put ice cubes in the top push down on the handle and ice shavings come out

Could you make snowballs out of the result? (like ones that were like real snow, not scary, hurtful iceballs)

well, you could, but the ice melts pretty fast inside (depending on where you are). so you could make a snow ball as soon as you shred the ice

will these machines shave ice cubes or does it have to be block ice?

you can only use ice cubes. does matter the shape of the ice cubes. the machine will shred them pretty good. you can't a block of ice into it.

Does it shave fine or corse?

It is not as smoth as shaved ice but the blade can be adjusted to get close snow like ice or more course ice.
