Gripping Emotional Journey
This novel is my top 5 for 2019. Fans of domestic noir will consume in one sitting. Hannah & Diane are identical twins who couldn’t be more different if they had been born in different families.Throughout adolescence and young adulthood the girls were set on different paths, Diane being brasher & more abrasive while Hannah tried to make life easier for everyone. Hannah went into adulthood with a secure job and a happy marriage while her twin Diane bounced around in different jobs, had a child out of wedlock and seemed to thumb her nose at Hannah’s conventional life.Following their mother’s’ death, Diane & Hannah have an argument that will separate them for over a decade until Diane shows up at Mark & Hannah’s with Mia, now 14 -years-old, and asks them to to care for her daughter while she straightens things out. Before Hannah can figure out what her twin is up too trudged you strikes and startlingly events come to light - placing Mark & Hannah’s marriage under intense pressure. Hannah knows she doesn’t want to lose contact with her niece Mia again but doesn’t know how her sister will fit back into her life.Fabulous story, it will have your emotions on high alert. The characters and storyline are beautifully crafted making this one of the best reads of the year.

Pretty decent book
This was a decent read. Definitely a family drama. There are no real surprises and its pretty straight forward. It focusses more on the thoughts and feelings of the characters than the actual plot itself, and can be a little long winded at times. I definitely fast read through the last bit as it gets rather repetitive. The characters come off rather one dimensional, and it is annoying how much they dwell on the past. But i suppose as the plot is mostly about past damages that was necessary. Maybe i just didnt quite relate to the characters very well. The most well rounded character was definitely Mia. The adults all seem a little hair brained and extremely childish in their judgements. Of people and actions both. The only other thing i struggled with was the fact the character descriptions were really lax, i guess in an effort for you to form your own conclusions and make them more conformative to the readers perspective. But the tiny details here and there gave me a really odd picture in my head.I do not regret reading it, but i feel with a little bit of help the book could have shone a little more.Great author as always though.

It's Not Just Me?
First of all, I may have a unique attachment to this book because I feel like the author was baring my soul in this story. In several instances, I had to pause and take deep breaths while I recovered from my own painful memories of being hurt by a sister as awful as Dianne. Hannah's pain was my pain; I cried and felt the searing hurt each time Hannah did. I still live this life and I have no desire to ever reconcile with my own "Dianne."Now I shall attempt an unbiased review of the book. The characters were well-developed, easy to envision, and somewhat predictable due to their depth of character. I was drawn into the story, even if the outcome was known from the beginning. There were enough unanswered questions to keep me hooked. The Narrator did a fantastic job switching characters fluidly. I'd purchase other audible books read by her simply because she was so enjoyable as the Narrator.I will also seek other books by this author. None may resonate with me quite as strongly as this one, but I'm interested to read more of her material.

Good read.
This is really a good story. Sibling rivalry is real and sometimes can truly be heartbreaking. Words have power; hence, we should always be careful what we say.I gave this book a 4 on the rating scale instead of 5 because I wish it had been longer.

GREAT READ
This was a simple read, it kept my interest from the start. The plot twist was just what this book needed. It was not a drawn out book which I love. Lay it out, keep it moving, and grabbed me from the start. I did not put this read down. I loved Hannah, she is brilliant. The way she saw life, her humor, and how she shared her private details was great. This booked flowed together, I would recommend this to my mom and daughters. Thank you

Wow
Boring, exhilarating, surprising, wordy. Lots of different reactions when you read this. Get to the end - it’s a shocker!

Dirty pool
Why doesn't the author tell us the sisters were IDENTICAL TWINS until after one of them is dead? Part of the fun of reading a mystery is trying to guess the ending. Without knowing the twin factor, it's impossible to figure out the ending. The book was also way too long due to repetitions, over analysis, and useless scenes. For example, what was the purpose of Mia and Todd stealing booze, then not drinking it. Go figure. And will Mark ever reveal his paternity? I got so frustrated by the end that I didn't care.

Good twist
I can usually see the plot coming from the beginning of most of the book I read, but this one had a little one in stock for me half way through the book! Good read

đź’• Family Truths and Lies
đź’• A touching, truthful and honest portrayal of a family and the many conflicts they can go through. This emotionally charged and deeply touching novel embraces both the happy beginning and disturbing past of the lives of two sisters. One struggling to bring up her daughter as a single parent, the other struggling with the fact she will never be a mother. Both sisters having secret regrets about their life choices. The author approaches some difficult subjects with thoughtfulness, clear understanding and passion. There are so may points in this novel where the characters are loved, hated, pitied or despised by the reader, yet in each one we also find an amount of sadness, loss, hope, love and kindness. Very truthful to 'real life' and the way families can be one thing to each other one moment and something very different in another, the author has woven a web of deceit and lies into a story built on love. No matter how many troubles a family can have, there is always a binding element which is stronger than anything else - Love. This story is both believable and intriguing to read.

Jealousy
This is a story about love and jealousy . Most stories about love end with love defeating all but in this story jealousy becomes the winner .It is a very well written story and I would recommend it to all avid readers. Carol Mellon

An emotional gripping story
Well what to say, I have really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I know that identical twins loved playing this game, I know some.I gave it only four stars because it was quite predictable, after Mark started to worry the first time. But still I enjoyed the Authors writing style, with all the details in the past and present and future. The story is about identical twins, Hannah and Diane, thus story has secrets, jealousy and lies in quite a terrific way. Diane has always been the more mean twin were Hannah was always the one with the good heart, Hannah had to put up a lot with Diane after they got older, Hannah is Married to Mark, happily and without children, Mark never wanted any, he made it clear to Hannah before he proposed and Hannah had agreed to it. Diane have got pregnant with Mia, where no one knows who has been the father of Mia, she never told anyone. The day came when the mother of Hannah and Diane passed away from cancer , that they had a big fight what droves them apart.Hannah haven't spoken to Diane or seen her in over ten years. And suddenly Diane arrived at the door step with her daughter Mia in tow and the story will unfold, very emotional storyline.
