Very good overall with some minor quibbles. Great family film
Only 4 stars as I thought this one wasn't *quite* as good as the original - the children fell into place far too quickly - and the fact that it had a US actress playing a major character (even though she played the part and the accent perfectly) when there must be a plethora of UK talent to fulfil this quintessentially British part in a WW2 fantasy?Animatronics played a fair part in the story but the subplot concerning the brother-in-law was not really brought to a satisfactory conclusion.Still - a great film to watch and a bit of a tear jerker towards the end.

Fun family film
As an adult watching this film, I was impressed by the family values illustrated by the help given to the adults by the children and vice versa. It was nice to see them being encouraged to solve problems and to see that every action causes a reaction in a fun way. Quite educational but a very happy family movie

Fantastic family film !
This sequal follows a similar story arc to the first Nanny McPhee but the story is very different.I loved the first film and didn't expect too much from this one as quite often I am dissappointed by sequals, however this time I was very plesantly surprised, I think they stuck to the basic outline of the first one and put in the parts which they needed to and surrounded them by a fantastically funny and magical new story. My two boys who are 6 and 7 absolutely loved it and have already watched the dvd 5 times, we really hope they do a third film in the series, as Nanny McPhee is such a great character. The DVD itself has a small selection of extras, mainly featurettes and all in all isn't a bad price.

Nanny McPhee doesnt like Goodbyes.... WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Great family entertainment that even had hard-of-heart-old-Taxi-Driver-loving me weeping at the end (especially the reference to the first film!). My 3 and a half year old LOVED the first one and watched it OVER and OVER again. This isnt as good but still a heartening old bag of fun all the same. However, this one went slightly more over the head of my daughter with some more 'adult' references like wars, class etc. Too hard to explain to a 3 year old what a war is really! But as in the first one, great performances all round and some inspired casting (Bill Bailey, Rhys Ifans). Perfect for keeping the kids quiet during the summer. I really hope they continue making more Nanny McPhee films. I am definately a (secret) fan. Give in and ENJOY.

Not as good as the first, but worth a purchase.
Not as good as the first film, perhaps because you already know the 'magic' behind Nanny McPhee so you kind of know the plot and ending before the film even starts. That said, it's still worth a watch - the kids loved it and actually for my 6 year old was quite educational - we had to explain to her why kids from the City were moved to the country during the war and all sorts of other questions relating to the period.

Great - not just for kids
I loved this funny and quirky film. Children and adults will enjoy it alike and if you loved the first film, you will not be disappointed about this one. This film is set in 2nd world war Britain and is not quite as brightly coloured than the previous film but there is a lot of attention to small, quirky details and the more you watch the fim, the more of these you will notice.I was not so keen of Maggie Gillenhaal's performance, which I found very exaggerated and a bit artificial but my friends did not agree with me, so that's just my personal opinion!
