Saul: Journey to Damascus

Saul: The Journey to Damascus
This film teaches Saul a valuable lesson to love your enemies. This was a hard lesson to learn from physical blindness by Jesus, because of Saul's wicked ways and persecution of Christians in Ancient Rome. That event in Saul's life forever changed him, and gave him a change of heart for a religious cause. This is an excellent film and teaches many to have a change of heart after a personal life-changing event.I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who is curious to know what happens to Saul after his confrontation with Jesus.

Mystery of History
I have found my way to these movies through science, lets just say there is more to this world than any of us could ever hope to understand. In a war where the good will never win a single battle they still show triumph in the war. It matters not how you took it but how it was meant. If you speak the word of love and someone sees it as treachery they have been too far from the light for too long, for being blinded by the light could be seen as a curse but may be a blessing in disguise. The beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

The story was good, but not accurate to scripture in a few ways.
It was a good movie but the crazy stand out for me was Annanias sprinkled Saul. As Jesus followers, they would have been following the example of Christ. Christ was fully immersed when John the Baptist baptized Him.Additional, the baptism of Saul came, according to scripture, after his site was restored, not as part of the process of regarding his site.I must say, it did make me reread chapter 9 of Acts to make me double check what I remembered of the story.

Although the script takes some liberties, I found the movie touched my heart with the message.
I think the negative reviewers need to lighten up a little. I watched this movie because I have been drawn recently to read the writings of Paul. Even though it is not biblically perfect I felt the spirit of it was true and honest. I was as a Christian disappointed that Jesus was mostly just referred to as "the Nazarene" . That being said, I believe the production was geared to a wide audience, not just people who are already Christians. It is done well enough to cause some to search. A Billy Graham movie is what got me first searching as a teenager. It is worth watching for sure.

.and the Holy Spirit blows across the land
To those who cannot understand because of the hardness of your hearts. God reaches out to you that you would repent and believe in Jesus (Yeshua) the Son of God who lived upon the earth with man for 33 years. He will send His Holy Spirit to fill you and live within you. Therefore, the Power within you that changes you, opens your eyes and heart to truth that you had rejected or ignored. I pray that you will find Him. He is near you.

Saul becoming Paul
A powerful visual, of how Jesus brings Saul into seeing where he has been wrong in his way of thinking. May Jesus always help us all who follow him know when we have stepped off the right path and help us to get back on the correct course He has laid out for us! I hope you take the time to watch the conversion of Saul to Paul all in the name of LOVE!

Not scriptural - a movie about Saul should be a movie about Jesus!
The true story of Saul of Tarsus is one of the most amazing accounts in the Bible. There are only a few specific details recorded, and I feel that this film strays from those details. My biggest complaint is that it de-emphasizes Jesus as the Messiah, and instead emphasizes Saul's personal feelings of guilt for persecuting the Christians. Here are my specific complaints:1. The Bible says that Paul "was consenting to Stephen's death"--this movie portrays him as personally directing the stoning.2. The Bible records that Stephen prayed to ask God to forgive those who were stoning him. This movie instead has him look at Saul and say, "I forgive you"3. The dialog between Jesus and Saul on the road to Damascus is recorded in the Bible:Jesus: "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?"Saul: "Who art thou, Lord?"Jesus: "I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks."Saul: "Lord, what wilt thou have me do?"Jesus: "Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do."Unfortunately, the movie leaves out a lot of this dialog.4. The Bible records that Ananias, "putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost." The movie strays quite far here, with Saul falling against Ananias and weeping about how Stephen had forgiven him and he felt so guilty and can never be forgiven. Then Ananias pours a bowl of water on Saul's head and declares that he is baptizing Saul.5. The Bible says that, "straightway [Saul] preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God." This movie depicts Saul as very unsure of himself, and very reluctant to engage in bearing witness of Christ. Then, when he does finally preach of Christ at the very end, it's a rather weak sermon about how all of Jesus' teachings reduce down to a single world: "love". He does not mention his vision, he dwells more on having been forgiven by Stephen and another character, and only finally mentions at the very end that Jesus is the Son of God.Bottom line--I wish this movie was more about Jesus!

OK, but disappointing in biblical inaccuracy.
Creative license shouldn't trump Scripture. The weak secular faith of most of the characters undermines the triumphant faith of the early church, which endured and over-came, without weakening. In numerous places of a Biblically recorded event, they could have used and quoted the Scriptures ("Saul, Saul, what are you waiting for? Arise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord."). Instead they inserted their own weak ideas and dialogue. Disappointing.
