says what it needs to
I first opened this book and read the introduction part of which says "we have assumed minimal previous knowledge of biology".I showed this book to my house mate who studied GCSE Biology but not A'level and she was unable to read it as it is assumed that you know what terms such as Angiosperms, prokaryotes, eukaryotes and alternations of generation are in the 1st paragraph with no explaination! If you have an A'level Biology you should be fine. This book is useful to have for the general details of plant biology at 1st and 2nd year introductory units. As the book states, it is there to provide 'almost' a revision guide(Instant notes), but in the form of a text book. It does also state that you will require more advanced books for specialist topics. The book can not really be critisized for this as it is only small and relatively cheap (compared to specialist texts).I would hope anyone wishing to acheive a 1st class would be reading considerably more than one text book.I am not a fan of the term 'all the basics' and would prefer to say this book covers the fundamentals of plant Biology for someone who is studying it at university. Diagrams are few and far between on a 'needs must' basis which is fine if you have other texts to refer to.This book has been written to provide a concise account of what you are likely to need to know in the 1st two years. That is what it does!

Good condition.
5 STARS - mainly because i know the authors and didn't like the idea of paying full price for a new copy (of which they would get a percentage..... they are my university lecturers)Cheep, quick delivery and in very good condition
