The spelling lists given are phonically based and having learned them the children are asked to apply them in simple dictations.

Returning to an old favourite for generating spelling lists. Used these a long time ago and they haven't really dated - they're back 'on trend' with the emphasis on systematic phonics teaching. A great time-saver for teachers.

Great books and great program which children find useful and can see their progress. I like the dictations but I was hoping that by buying the revised edition it would have been updated and not be stories about fat people and dirty tramps.

an excellant book. Groups letter sounds together and you work on one sound at a time. Easy to use and not too difficult or challenging so children don't get over wrought trying to complete it.

This is a very useful resource in my work as a private tutor. Pupils struggling to spell are consistantly reminded of previous spelling groups in a fun, ongoing story. I have had a copy for the past ten years or so, which literally fell apart. I was so pleased to find that it was still in print!
