The only chair with all the features I wanted
Reviews for this chair on Amazon are confusing because the listing has three options, and each option is a completely different model of chair. The model I purchased is the Gunmetal finish chair with the padded seat -- model number 317-ME3R2C7KF7.I bought this chair because it was the only chair I could find that had all four of the following features:1. Padded seat2. Adjustable seat depth3. Height-adjustable armrests4. Flip-back armsBecause my home office doubles as a recording studio, I wanted arms that could flip back out of the way, so that I can sit and play the guitar without the armrests getting in the way. However, height-adjustable armrests and flip-back arms aren't commonly found together on many chairs. In fact, the "Black" finish option on this listing appears to be an older model that doesn't have height-adjustable armrests or adjustable seat depth. So be careful which version you order. If you prefer a more breathable seat, the Platinum finish version is pretty much the same chair as the one I purchased, except for the SpaceGrid mesh seat.I've read complaints that the seat is too hard. That has not been my experience. The seat is memory foam and has just the right amount of give. However, I do weigh 200 lbs -- it's possible that someone heavier might squash the foam padding enough to feel the base of the seat underneath. The chair is heavy, so it feels durable. I had no trouble assembling it, I could see how others might. It's not particularly easier or harder to put together than most other office chairs, in my experience.Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this chair so far. I used to keep a standard office chair and a simple four-leg chair with no armrests in my office. Thanks to the flip-back arms, I've been able to replace both of those chairs with this one, and now I have a little more room.Whatever chair you decide to purchase, I recommend getting a set of Stealtho office chair wheels to go with it. They're smoother and more pleasant to roll on than the stock casters that come with most office chairs.

THE chair to have!
This chair is outstanding! There are so many great chairs out there, and many happen to be made by this company, apparently. However, the perfect combination of features only occurs here on this one for me. (or the slightly cheaper, silver version, of course. Just search 'Space Seating Professional R2 to find it' I opted for the gunmetal because it looks killer... just my aesthetic folks!) The memory foam cushion is sturdy and incredibly supportive—that is to say, it is *NOT* a too-soft, sink-right-through-the-cushion-to-feel-the-hardware type cushion; it's going to last a VERY long time. Being the musician / music producer / computer user that I am, the versatile nature of this chair provides me with EVERY permutation of comfort and support for ANY position I need to be in; whether I'm playing guitar or keyboards, watching a movie and relaxing after hours, or sitting alert as I wade my way through hours of audio editing, this thing has got me covered.Everything is SO easily adjustable... from lumbar support height, to arm rests that FULLY fold back, to the backrest release tension, to LOCKING the backrest into place from a WIDE variety of angles... (literally, you can get a semi-reclining thing going for you if you need to look up constantly, PLUS the arm rests fold to any position neatly so you can leave them at the perfect angle to remain 90 degrees / perpendicular to your backrest! Brilliant.) Furthermore, the seat goes up and down a good 5-6", (from the bottom of my chin to my eyebrows, in the mirror, haha) and it *also* slides quite a few inches forward (or back) for those who need to adjust that to suit their needs. I am 5'9", roughly 160lbs and I can't think of another office chair as good as this, it's simply the best I've ever sat in.For anyone complaining about the weight, are you crazy? First of all, the weight is due to the IMMENSE QUALITY of its materials... nothing compares to the real deal! Moreover, how often do you have to LIFT your chair off the ground at length? This chair can fit through most doorways, so if it's going upstairs.. just assemble it UPSTAIRS! Obvious right? :P (otherwise have someone help you move it if you really need to do that) The ONLY reason this chair doesn't have hundreds of glowing reviews is because many people decide to opt for chairs half this price, thinking they're saving money... they are not. This chair will not go limp on you, nor will it disappoint you in any way, unless your physical measurements lie on the extreme side, in which case.. this company has many more good options for you. I'm not a spokesperson for them, hence why I haven't even mentioned their name. This is one of the best purchases / investments I've made in my life. My mild-moderate arthritis (among other problems) in my back really required something excellent to sit on, and this is that solution for me. I would recommend it to anyone looking for the RIGHT chair, because this one is IT for me. If you need an incredibly comfortable, modifiable seat with scarce limitations, buy this asap... you won't regret it! As time goes by, I will update this review to let everyone know just how well it's going. Happy shopping! :)

Great Chair- 5 YEAR UPDATE
**5 Year update** Pictures from 8/22/2020I thought I would do a 5 year review on this chair before I sell it. This chair deserves much more praise than I gave it in my original review in 2015 below. This chair is a TANK. It's held up beautifully the past 5 years and I am confident it will hold up for many years to come. I friggin used this thing as a dolly to help me move last year and its still sturdy as an ox. You just don't find things built to last these days. Its nice to see that some companies still care about the quality of their products. The two cons remain the same 1. The lumbar support needs a better locking mechanism ( They may have fixed this in the newer model). 2. The memory foam seat is hard and never really loosened up. It tends to hurt my butt after long hours. The faux leather on the seat is startling to fray a little on the front but that's expected after this many years of use. 3. The arms on the older model that i have do not raise but it looks like they updated that in the newer model. Still a great desk chair for guitarists! Great chair overall!I have had this chair for about 7 months now. Overall it's a pretty good chair. Well built and sturdy, has a very modern look. Its fairly comfortable but certainly not for lounging. If you are someone who spends very, very long hours at your computer I would suggest a chair with more of a bucket-like seat and a longer backrest. The armrests fold all the way back, witch is great if you play guitar, however they're very far apart and I hardly ever use them anyway. The only other complaint I have is that there is no locking mechanism on the lumbar support and it tends to fall down. There are screws you can tighten but it still falls after a few hours of use. Not sure if defect or bad design.
