Great Guide
Having recently retired I wanted to start doing more walking. The Cleveland Way is on my doorstep so where better to start. The book is full of great information and a excellant place to start planning to walk the Cleveland Way.

The best guide for the Cleveland Way
Having just completed walking the Cleveland way, I can thoroughly recommend this guide, with it's excellent hand drawn maps and lots of other useful information. The detailed maps are great for finding your way, with points that aren't marked on most maps (eg, 'blue painted hut' or 'nation trust sign') that make it very easy to find exactly where you are. There are useful notes like "take the lower grassy path here", that are just what you need at some, otherwise confusing, junctions.Honest descriptions of places to stay and eat, together with phone numbers and website information for them are very useful.Tables telling you what you can find in the way of services at each point along the way and the distances between them are extremely helpful in planning your trip, along with bus timetables and opening times etc.As well as the route guide itself, there is some excellent advice about what to take, how to carry it and where to stay along the way. Also guides to the flora and fauna, some history.Basically, this guide is all you need and comes highly recommended. Well worth reading before you decide on what other gear to buy and pack for the trip!

Brilliant guide book
This was a fantastic guide book. It contained masses of helpful information, but by far the best thing was the maps. They were large scale and gave an amazing amount of information. It was so easy to know where on the walk you were as there were loads of things marked that could be used as "tick off features" . The maps even showed where there were benches on the route for when a rest stop was needed.I could not recommend this book highly enough and would certainly buy other guides by the same author.

All you need in a guide
Highly informative, very clear, easy-to-follow, up-to-date guide. This is a most enjoyable walk; the waymarking was faultless, the accommodation very good, the landscape/geology/industrial heritage fascinating, the walking exhilarating and the views great - every day. The excellent guide is self-sufficient: I also had OS maps but they proved superfluous! Strongly recommended.
