This set contains both videos, Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass, at half the price! They come in individual cardboard sleeves inside a larger slipcase, not the clamshell cases, so these boxes take up less room, and they are very nicely packaged.

The Best Child's Movie EVER!!
I remember watching this version of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" when I was about 5 years old. My aunt had taped it when it was on TV, and I fell in love with it the first time I saw it! Alice is a little cutie and just how I would picture the REAL Alice to be (although Natalie Gregory is wearing a blonde wig in this movie!). The songs and dances are very enjoyable, and the all-star cast is amazing! This version stars Jonathan Winters, Ringo Starr, Telly Savalas, Sally Struthers, John Stamos, Ann Jillian, Carol Channing, Red Buttons, Pat Morita, Sammy Davis, Jr. . . and on and on! I remember being scared for Alice when she encountered the Jabberwocky, and I recall thinking how icky and salty it must feel to swim in a sea of tears. My favorite part of the entire two-part story is the scene at the Duchess's house--with the frog footman and the pepper being dumped all over (including on the baby!), and the baby turning into a pig! All in all, a wonderful production! Just think--if this movie kept me, as a 5-year-old, glued to the TV for 3 hours, it MUST be good!

not that good.
and i particularly remember loving this version as a child. it has some precious moments...but i wasn't a big fan of the songs and the various dances choreographed, etc. the movie might follow the book scene by scene more closely than any other movie, but it is hardly a sophisticated and thought-provoking adaptation. in fact, this film falls short of exploring and uncovering any of the profound and complex layers of the "alice" books.when filmmakers create a film out of a book, they should take the liberty of making use of visual and audio media, especially when the book is as trippy as "alice" and has the potential to be visually stimulating.all in all, i loved the disney movie so much more, which does not follow the book at all, but is just more memorable (in my opinion anyway). disney definitely makes full use of the advantages that animation allows - like defying the laws of physics! i'll just alwasy remember the cheshire cat standing on his head!

Love this movie!
I, like many others, had a recorded copy of this off the television when i was a child. Unfortunatly, the tape was not ours and I somewhat forgot all about this version of the story. For some reason, I remembered it and was thrilled when I saw Amazon was selling it (the giftset is a GREAT deal). The buyer recieves both "Alice in Wonderland" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass". The songs, cast, costuming, and emotional rollercoaster of Alice (along with all the other crazies), is a delight. This is the best version of "Alice..." that i have ever watched (and i am a big Disney fan)! I recommend this to anyone with an imagination and open-mind.

Just as I remembered it...
The giftset includes both parts of the story: "Alice in Wonderland" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass". I originally saw this movie when it aired on TV in 1985 and its characters and costumes have stayed with me throughout my childhood and adolescence. The movie follows Lewis Carroll's story, but words cannot describe the many memorable scenes and images from the movie. It still surprises me when I catch myself singing the songs from the soundtrack, almost 20 years later! This movie captivates the imagination. You will love it!

Great Film
I too am in love with this movie. I haven't seen it since I was maybe 8, but I grew up watching it over and over at my aunt's house. I remember so many details of the movie and how scared I was of the Jabberwocky. I agree it IS the best version to date and the cast is amazing. Great movie... I HIGHLY reccommend it. Buy it here on amazon, its very difficult to find it anywhere else and the giftset is wonderful!

It is a Christmas gift.
My patient has many versions of Alice in wonderland and only one on tape, which is his preference so I know he will enjoy this.

Very authentic and faithful to the original story
Yes it is incredibly old and dated but it features amazing film and music icons in the roles and it is the only version you will ever find that actually sticks to the source material without mixing up the two stories.
