It Works
Be advised that this is not a factory Shark product. It does not fit perfectly. Occasionally, the hose will come out as the tabs do not extend enough to hold it in without poushing them out. Ultimately, they work their way lose. Annoying when it happens but not too often. You get what you pay for. Also, i thin Shark discontinued selling their replacement hose so i wasn't left with many options.

Can't be addaapted to NV400-NV401 models
This products seems decent quality, and it never claimed to be NV400/401 compatible. However... design. The concept is the same, and clip design both end is essentially the same as the NV40x series. So, you might think this would work with slight effort in place of the NV40x hose that is not available (despite some vendor's claims they have it, which they won't). I have to rate down one mark since there is no reason Shark had to keep changing this design by 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16th inch in various directions. Despite looking compatible with two clips on each end, this core hose is not only 3 inches shorter compressed without end, but 1/4" narrower which translates to the ends being narrower and also 1/16-1/4th longer. Longer and narrow, even cutting off the two ""U" chapped extrusions on the top end (which presumably limit rotation to avoid clips being broken off) clipping in is futile, plus the significantly narrower hose falls right out of the side guiding clip, and the top end clip in being longer means it doesn't lay in the top channel which again is too wide anyway. Bottom line, despite possible appearances, by design it is not as simple as it looks like it could be... should be. I tossed it and will work to fix the old hose, which is glued on the ends, when it could have been screwed in (later version glued too). So, I'm rating Shark, for design, and failure to support good moderately older models, filing landfills, not this exact thing for its intended use presumably with some very specific model.

Does not snap in place
I was hoping I can save my shark navigator with this hose but was wrong, it doesn’t snap on, it slides off right away. There’s a rubber band around the hole that attaches to the vacuum cleaner, that has the role to seal the hole and prevent the dust flying out. That rubber band is a bit too thick, it’s thicker than on the original hose by a little, but enough that it wouldn’t let the hose go all the way and snap on. I pushed it really hard, that way it did go all the way, but the pressure was too strong and snapped off right away. Plus, even if the rubber ring were thinner, the snapping power is too weak, I think it’d fallen off anyway.

the hose construction is better than the hose that came with the vacuum
the hose construction is better than the hose that came with the vacuum.but there is one problem. i returned the hose because the end that snaps into the vacuumwould not snap in at all.i ordered and received another hose and unfortunately this one has the same problem.fortunately i was able to slide a couple of wooden shims under the pieces that neededto snap in so that the hose would stay in place. i also wrapped some electricians tapearound the hose to make sure everything stayed together. this appears to have solvedthe problem.after checking some reviews on the hose this appears to be a defect that has been goingon for some time and has never been addressed. people have posted various work aroundsto take care of this defect so the hose can be used. the manufacturer needs to address this problem.

Other methods
There are some reviews that say it’s loose and will not stay locked in and others that say you to heat up the locking levers with a heat gun to spread them apart (by the way don’t do this...). If your strong handed just GENTLY spread the levers ONE AT A TIME no more than a 1/4” away from the tubing. This did work for me. My vacuum has more suction than before! If you are not strong handed get someone else to assist. You won’t regret this!

Shark Replacement Hose Poor Quality OEM/VAR
At first glance, the matching replacement part appeared to be fine. However, once I attach the new hose to the vacuum, it keeps falling out of the main body of the vacuum. Apparently, the small “raised clips” are way too small to fully stick inside the “grabber” holes... so, the hose just falls out. I have to hold the hose tight inside it’s receptical, while I turn on the vacuum—all the while hoping the hose won’t fall out when I gently use it. Unfortunately, it still falls out from time to time. So it is pretty much a waste of money, since Shark relies on Third-Party parts—rather than taking full responsibility to provide direct, original manufacturer parts from the original source.

Easy Fix..........Great Hose!
Great Hose, but had to heat up the clips on the end to bend them out,so it would stay connected to the Shark. Not a deal breaker for me............the hose is actually nicer than the original. If you're wondering on whether or not to buy this hose because of all the negative reviews, trust me, the hose is fine, just heat the ends with a lighter for a few seconds, bend them out about 1/4 inch, and bingo........you have a better than new hose!!:)

Latch clips are not tall enough
This is the second replacement hose that I have purchased. The first was hard to get snapped into place but it eventually did and has worked fine since. This hose purchase was for another vacuum (identical model) but I could never get it to snap into place. I had to shim the latches to get it to stay into place. A good replacement hose but the snaps need to be higher.
