Fantastic coat for the cold! And a very soft inner lining!
Great coat when it's cold.Firstly, it is just nice to have heating elements in a coat. The difference is nearly divine. And the fact that it heats up so fast is quite the bonus. This coat does fit differently than the standard black one. That one is more of a rounded feeling, whereas this one almost hugs you like a suit coat. It's not a matter of bad or good, but rather a difference in stylistic choices. The material is noticeably different too. The interior lining is a soft fabric. Could be suede, or at least it does feel like a soft velvety material. That aspect, I enjoy a lot. The heat does seem to disperse through it remarkably. With the slimmer cut, the heating elements are nice and snug against the skin. Note: it's important to have a good fit for these jackets as air space between the person and the coat can diminish the effect. Also, avoid having too many layers between the coat and skin. Often just a t-shirt is the best practice. Seems risky but it's wise. But is it perfect? Well, the main issue for me is just the pockets. A bit too small for suitable use. My hands go inside them yet, they don't fully fit down in them. Granted, I have a medium coat, but having larger pockets would be helpful. I do like being able to zip up the pockets though. Aside from the battery pouch, there are no pockets on the inside. This may be due to the heating elements, though a pocket for security would be nice. Maybe a future edition. Now the hood won't detach on this one, though it's not terribly huge and does have the soft fabric inside it. Hopefully, in time, this type of heated apparel will have heating elements on the entire surface area of the fabric. That would make these items truly awesome. But still, heat can travel to some extent. I hope to test out the hood (and coat) on a very cold day. Despite being winter (Feb 8) in California, it's been about 74 degrees in the day lately. So currently, the importance of the heat isn't so high, though the jacket is comfy just as a jacket.Again, size does matter. Well, at least finding the correct size helps a great deal. These are not custom fit jackets, so there will always be a sacrifice in one area or another. Just order and try it; if it does not work, then maybe try another size. Looking at the specs, I had a tough time deciding if large or medium was best. I went with medium, though I wonder if large would have been better. Eh, I'll try it for a few days and see what I come up with. The sleeves could be a tad longer, though the description suggested they might be too long. Tough to ascertain beforehand. If nothing else, I'm happy to be staying warm and comfortable. I just don't have the tolerance for cold weather. And again, if you like the camo style (the blue is pretty cool), then perhaps try the blue camo instead of the black one. The heat does seem to be holding up in that fabric just a tad more than the black coat. The focus of this coat may be different than the other one as this is meant to be "water resistant." Though what does that mean? Well, I sprayed a fair amount of water on the sleeves and chest to simulate a quite rainy day. The water does drip off after a bit, yet an ample amount is absorbed by the fabric. This of course concerned me. Would it soak through? Actually, it did not. The water did not penetrate to the inside lining. Granted, more water might have a different result (e.g., a thunderstorm), but it was an impressive amount. The temperature in the lining did drop a small amount from the collected water (pretty much expected), yet that beats wet skin any day of the week. For the water around the chest area, I did not notice the temperature drop, but hey, there are heating elements working in that area. Below that part, in the stomach area, the fabric felt somewhat cool, so I think the water was lowering the heat level there. Can't do much about that, except maybe to keep moving.Note: I've not tried this test on the black coat, so I don't know if the same result would be had.I did spend more time in front of the mirror though (I try not to make this a habit). The slender long look is certainly noticeable. It may be that it's due to offering more protection from the elements. Hard to say. In the end, I think both versions just offer different features. But I'll know more as the time passes.

Wish I had these as a kid!!!!!!
It is a great fit even with layers under. Stays warm so don't need to run the heater all the time, wind shielding outside with a liner inside. Battery is not too heavy, about the same as a 6+ iphone which does fit in the other side pocket. Only improvement would be an extra warmer for the ear portion of the hoodie.Overall well worth the money.

so the heating element was rather weak and the material itself wasn't terribly warm. The color looks great in person however ...
This is for the white version. IT seems that this is an older model of the jacket, so the heating element was rather weak and the material itself wasn't terribly warm. The color looks great in person however and I prefer the color to the black. The hood is NOT removable for the white version. The black model was a much better experience and the heat was quite nice. The jacket is not terribly effective unless it hugs the skin, so the heating element can make contact with the wearer's body. That being said if proper contact is made it kept me comfortable in 30 degree weather while still being relatively thin, which makes this much more comfortable than traditional winter jackets.

It does run small
I am a 5 foot 4 inch female and I weigh about 137 pounds and I usually wear a 6-8-10 depending on the cut but having read the reviews and wanting this jacket I ordered the men's medium. I could not have worn the men's small. I have plenty of room in the chest and arm but its a little snug around the bottom. My husband pointed out that it probably runs a little long on me since most men will be taller so the bottom my not be an issue for men.I like the design, the color, and the jacket seems to be well made but I have not had the opportunity to try it out in cold weather yet. I bought it for high school baseball season here in the south which is by far the coldest sports season we have. I did give it a test run and it did heat up but I have had not real outdoor experience with the jacket.

Sleeves too short
My only knock on this jacket is that it doesn't get as warm as I was hoping. Also, I am 6'7 and the XL fits perfect but the sleeves are too short. The jacket is a great quality, and gets a lot of attention with the light up button on the chest. I knew when purchasing the jacket that the hood wasn't detachable, but I wish it was. Using this jacket as a base layer can be difficult if your out layer has a hood as well. Lastly, make sure that you purchase one that fits somewhat snug so you can feel the heating elements against your body.

Quickly heated up... a very effective defense against the cold winter, and a USB charger!
Amazingly effective in cold weather. Get you warm in under a minute. Good wind blocker too when the heating function is turned off, and a true life saver when I had to walk 5 blocks to get my fresh produce in the cold winter of New York. It seems to have a USB charger too (for phones, etc.); while I have yet to test that, I can see how useful that can be under circumstances... I am very pleased with the purchase.

Bought this for my son who has to work outdoors ...
Bought this for my son who has to work outdoors. He loves it. It works very well and kept him warm. He works in Receiving and with steel, and in the Midwest, it's been very cold this year. Everyone was jealous of him because he was warm and they were freezing.

This jacket is amazing! Keeps me very warm and is very comfortable. I have been wearing it to my grandsons soccer and hockey games in very cold windy weather. Highly recommend this jacket.
