2022-003-06, Out of frustration for the conflicting answers provided and the variation of same, I purchased the 3/8 inch and the 1/2 inch size. Both arrived as 50 ft continuous lengths. To my surprise, the Labeled Size is seemingly intended to be a nominal INSIDE DIAMETER; apparently such that one could count on it covering wires with a combined outside diameter equal to or smaller than the nominal dimension (Named Size) of the loom i.e., 3/8" loom will cover a package of wires measuring 3/8 inch or smaller, and 1/2" loom will cover a package of wires 1/2 inch or smaller.

The actual material thickness was drastically different for the two different diameters. The thickness of the material for the 1/2" size measured (on average) 0.012". While the material thickness for the 3/8 inch size measured 0.048". I took an average of 12 measurements at different points along the length of each of the products. I'm surprised that the smaller size is so thin... LESS THAN HALF THE THICKNESS of the larger size!
Some of the confusion in the prior answers may come from the fact that the split along the axial line of this material actually overlaps itself by approximately 15% of the diameter. It is this feature that allows the joint to remain closed securely, as the ribs interlock with each other enough to keep the material from separating under normal use. I will say that the material that arrived from my purchase of the 3/8" size is very thin, much thinner than I am used to using and probably would not use it in our manufactured products... simply for aesthetic reasons. However, for general use and specifically in areas that are not easily seen, I think this material will provide adequate protection for wires in many common applications such as automotive, recreational etc.  However, the 1/2" size seems to be made with adequate thickness and is similar to product I am accustomed to.
