Everyone needs this book. Great for Waldorf homeschool. The pictures are beautiful. We did water Olof paintings from them. We also are going to make the apple cake.

A delightful and timeless children's story that tells of the circle of giving. I have read this story to my daughter since she was five years old and even though she is now nine and quite capable of reading to herself the Apple Cake still remains one of the few books that she will ask to have Mommy read to her before she goes to sleep. Beautifully illustrated with a recipe for apple cake. Highly recommended as a children's bedtime story.

A very lovely book. The story is sweet and charming and the pictures are soft and sweet. This book really keeps the interest of the children. It follows an old woman who wants to make apple cake but doesn't have apples and how she goes about getting them through meeting and trading with other people. I'd recommend it greatly. For ages 3 to 8

This amazing story made me cry with happiness. There are very few stories I've found that are absolutely perfect in every respect, this book is one of them. The illustrations are beautiful, the story just right. It embodies all the best qualities I want my little man to develop, and is a heartwarming, timeless tale. If you have children of any age, this should be on your bookshelf.

This book is wonderful! Truly a gem of a find! I only wish I could find more books by this author. The illustrations are wonderful and the writing is beautifully done. I cried the first time I read it. Full of wise sayings as well. I highly recommend this book!

This is a wonderful book. My three year old, as well as my seven year old enjoy it. It is a soothing and sweet bedtime story. As a family, we look forward to making an applecake every fall from the recipe on the back.A wonderful tale of barter and generosity.

This book is beautifully illustrated with a wonderful story line, reminding us there is another way to “fair trade” items and the coincidental nature of them on one woman’s day out. Would highly recommend to all kindred spirits teaching children sometimes how life is for others.

Our children liked this story so much, they played it several times as a theater at birthday partys, planning all by themselves and acting well. The book ist nicely written and beautifully illustrated. A heart-warming, beautiful tale.
