I managed to tinker around and make some minor enhancements to the reports we use at work, but I haven't been able to build a report from scratch. This book not only shows you how to build different types of reports, but also gets into building the data sources, business and presentation layers in Framework manager. I'm still working through the book, but so far it's been great and worth every penny I paid for it. Not only does it go through tutorials, but it also explains concepts and ideas in Business Intelligence and Business Analytics. If you don't know Cognos and need to support Cognso Reports and Cubes, then this is the book for you. Review: Four Stars - A good all round book, that covers best practices. A good book to have on the shelf.

Comprehensive
In addition of being a complete textbook for learning to use Cognos, it also overs the key pitfalls one will encounter from a business standpoint in real life application of BI.

More for the administrator than the end user.
I purchased this to help with my day to day tasks as a report writer. I have no control over the set up of the tool. The book give basic information on using the tool. The index is particularly un-helpful

save your money and just go to youtube
Not worth the 4$. Yes, it's listed for 40+$ but it's not worth the 4$ of paper it's printed on.
