Ti's guuuud.
My 10 year old MX310 has been retired to my office. Having survived multiple lvl 80+ Diablo 2 characters and Quake 3 to Quake Live, it was time to replace the old faithful. I use a claw grip. And I tried to replace the MX310 first with a Kana V2, but even though they are similar in width, the Kana feels much narrower because of its low backside. The MX310 on the other hand has a nice lift at your palm and then eases down in height towards the top of the mouse. This makes the MX310 feel like it offers a lot more support and puts less strain on your hand. The gooves next to the side are a 'u' shape, so your thumb and pinky can rest either in the groove or on the edge of the mouse on the mousemat. Both these grip positions feel good. The surface of the mouse is great. Its hard plastic with slight grainy feel on the buttons and sides. It makes it very easy to clean, which is a bonus compared to modern mice with rubber sides. The sensor is good enough for me as I use very high sensitivity, when I play I use accel in Quake and I never lift my palm, I just flick for a 180 and swipe left/right for more accurate movements without lifting. If you have a similar style I'd highly recommend this mouse. The angle snapping is good for this too. On the Kana without the angle snapping I felt less accurate and in fps games the geometry is mostly square so if you aim from say a low area to a bridge when you move left and right the crosshair stays level with the geometry. The buttons are neither too sensitive or too hard. When I first got it 10 years ago I remember very seldom accidentally clicking the left mouse button when I did my 180 flicks. But I got used to it since. The low and fixed DPI could be an issue for some, but I find it good with 1:1 movement fix even using it on 2x 24" 1080 monitors, while using 3dsmax, UE4, photoshop etc. I bought two MX310's from Amazon, which was delivered a week earlier than expected. So I am good for another 20 years. The package is also now a cute little box, instead of that horrible impossible to open plastic. :)

Best Mouse Ever
This mouse is the best mouse I have ever used. I am a graphic designer and I use my mouse daily and up to 16 hours on long days sometimes so it is important to me to have something that works properly. This mouse fits my hand perfect and has a weight to it that makes it feel substantial that you just don't get with ordinary mice you buy at the store these days. I am using this mouse on a Mac and I would say it ranks just above the mighty mouse in comfort, accuracy and functionality. I recently have been forced to divert to a new Apple bluetooth wireless mouse because my trusty MX310 is having some USB connection issues from extensive used over the last 6 years. The wireless mouse is horrible compared to the MX310. It has tracking issues, I had to download a patch so it doesn't side swipe on accident, not good for gaming, batteries to replace and it's too small for my hand. That said I am back on Amazon to buy another MX310 (my third in the last 12 years). I must stress that I use my computer about 4 times more that the average person so I would say the mouse life would quadruple for the average consumer. Easily worth the price, great mouse. I hope Logitech keeps making it.

Best little gaming mouse too
I'm a fairly hard-core gamer. I've used top-line Logitech gaming mice and always keep coming back to the good old MX-310. All the fancy buttons and resolution options are worthless if you don't use them. And forget that middle side-scrolling button if you're a gamer--it makes using the middle button for firing darn near useless, IMHO. This is a great fit, great response, and really, all the buttons you need at your fingertips. I'm ordering a couple extra just to keep on hand (I'm hard on my mice). I even use it at desk at work (tho there I do miss the side-srolling a little, but only a little). If you want a really, really GOOD, inexpensive mouse (that Logitech doesn't itself sell anymore, boo on them), you gotta get this one!

Excellent mouse, but discontinued
I've bought this mouse twice: the first time (new) it lasted me 5 years, and the second time (used) it lasted almost 2 years. Unfortunately, Logitech no longer makes this mouse, so I'll be replacing it with the Razer Lachesis 4000 dpi Laser Gaming Mouse , as Logitech's replacement is the Logitech Gaming Mouse G300 , which places the side buttons on the top of the mouse, defeating the purpose of having side buttons. It's hard to find a good ambidextrous mouse, and this performed excellently while it lasted. Hopefully the Lachesis will be just as good.

Another great logitech mouse... a little on the light side though.
Been using this mouse for about 2 weeks. It's nice, fits very comfortably in my hand (I wear a small men's glove, if that helps anybody...), convenient side buttons. By default the buttons on the side do your browsers Back and Forward functions, but these can be bound differently depending on the application you're running. I play WoW, and these buttons can be bound to various commands in that game, so I am sure the same could be said about any other game. Extremely easy setup, just plug it in and run the CD. You can use the cursor upon plugging it in, just like any other basic USB mouse, but if you want the extra functions to work properly just run the CD, took me only a couple minutes. The only bad thing I can say about this mouse is that it is a little on the light side. If it was just a little bit heavier, like maybe a few ounces, it would be perfect.

It worked well but the buttons use to get stuck.
It worked well but the buttons use to get stuck. I did get a free replacement from Logitech. It is not made anymore.

The Best
I adore this mouse. Of the many I've used in my life, this one tops them all. It's not the most expensive mouse. It's not the most technical mouse. It's not perfect for every situation. But for general, every-day computer use, you will find no better mouse. Ever. I hoard these mice because after using them for so long I don't think I can go back to mice without back and forward buttons for easy navigation -- which are, incidentally, the thing that sets this fantastic mouse apart from other laser mice. Being able to tap a button to go back a page (or out of a folder) is so intuitive and quick that once you become accustomed to it you will rue hitting backspace or clicking the back button. This is wonderful.

Horrible ergonomics
I can't stand the feel of this mouse. It's so long and flat that it doesn't fit into the natural curvature of the hand's resting position. If you're an NBA basketball player with gorilla hands it will be a perfect fit. The thumb and pinky grooves are too rigid forcing you to keep wrist parallel to desk, not angled up as usual. Precision is decent, not great and buttons response is inconsistent. I'm returning this mouse in favor of a Microsoft "egg" shape mouse. For the price, this mouse should be wireless as well...

Look elsewhere.. I need to stockpile these :)
For about 15 years these are the only mouse I use for gaming. I can't get used to any others as these just work perfectly for me.
