The text is informative and has a ton of practice exercises. If you actually sit down and learn the material you'll be great at free hand sketching for engineering. It teaches conventions on how to read engineering drawings and is really a great introduction to the subject matter. The problem is it's a vast amount of information and actually doing all or even most of the drawing exercises would take ages, and anymore a lot of engineering work is done on computer software that already has the conventions programmed in. The book is great for what it is and if you're purchasing it you're probably doing it for school.

I think the book is meant for a reader who is more knowledgeable about drafting than I am. The book does have many excellent drawings that help in identifying good drafting techniques versus poor techniques. Although this book is being used for a Drafting Fundamentals college course, I would tend to recommend this book to someone who already has some drafting experience. To those just beginning in a drafting course of study, this book certainly can be used but you'll come across some drafting jargon that isn't explained.

The book offers numerous examples which can be sketched, put into orthographic projections and good instruction on how to do so. The text lacks much instruction in the latest CAD softwares such as Solidworks or ProE.

This was the textbook used for a SolidWorks based class at the community college I was at.There is really enough information in this book to really teach you a solid fondation for drawing technically.

I DON'T REMEMBER IF I ORDER THIS BOOK USED OR NEW BUT IT WAS PERFECT CONDITION. JUST LIKE A NEW BOOK HALF THE PRICE :)

I honestly don't think I ever used this book for my graphics class. Would probably be good for someone taking a graphics class with a professor who actually uses the book.

I didn't find the textbook heloful at all. I did read most of it and it didn't help with my class. I'm not sure why it was needed as even though i read it, it wasn't used for anything.

I rate this book 5 stars because it was in great shape, its content is well explained and helps me at school. I'd recommend it to anyone who want to learn basic to intermediate 3D mechanical modeling.
