Rockschool Drums Grade 4 (2018)

Its well written and describes the exam levels required and most of the course well.Main criticism is the choice of some of the music options you can choose as part of the exam, but I suspect that's to keep licence fees down - so fair enough!The biggest thing missing, which I find with most drum score books is the lack of the rest of the musical score, lyrics, musical note ledger lines and chords all missing! Why?Imagine trying to play the drums for ZZ Top's Sharp Dressed Man and you hadn't heard the song before.You need the whole picture, both for feel and timing.This being a training/course manual its even more wrong, drums are not played in isolation and just reinforces the lack of drum scores on normal song books!The quality of the publication overall is good.Would I buy it again - Yes if I was going for the exam (I am) , but its not a general training book in its own right!

My 11 year old has really practised more and improved on the drums since working towards grade 4 with this book. The tracks and pretty cool and having downloaded them with the code, he can easily play them from his phone and drum along!

The best way to learn rock and pop on drums. This grade begins to introduce rudiments and other essential techniques, a step up from grade 2 (the previous grade I had taken) which was more about making you comfortable around the drum kit and build up a rapport with the instrument. For theory-phobes like myself, these books are presented in a clear and concise way which have actually helped me with sight reading in music other than drum scores. The pieces themselves are surprisingly good; enjoyable and diverse.Rockschool is a great way to learn drums which I would recommend to any budding drummer

My daughter passed her Grade 3 using Rockschool and now has moved to Grade 4 and getting on fine. Bought second hand, good condition, as why buy new when the book is only used for a few months?
