Abode Smoke Alarm Monitor | Notifies You Immediately If Your Smoke Alarm is Going Off

Abode does not provide smoke detectors that are compatible with their home security systems. They use this listening monitor mounted close to any smoke detector to active the security system to warn the homeowner.These work great (I have two) and if you have an Abode system these are must for detecting smoke or fire.

Don't buy this unless you want to be called in seconds every time you burn something in the kitchen. It worked fine until they made a procedure change, and now it's in the trash. Customer service are some of the worst in the industry. Choose a different home security system

I have an extensive Abode system, with about a hundred Z-wave and Zigbee devices connected to it. These smoke detector relays (I don't know what else to call them) work as advertised - they are not smoke detectors, they listen for the sound of your existing smoke detectors when they go into alarm, and signal the system when they detect that unique alarm siren. I have mine installed just a few inches from their respective smoke detectors, and one our two have already been set off by kitchen 'incidents'; I immediately got a call from the monitoring center. So there you go - although I do feel they're a little pricey.

These are such a great way to inexpensively improve your smoke and fire detection using existing smoke alarms.I have these throughout my house as well as in two outbuildings, and they have worked perfectly in testing so far.

Works exactly as described. Received on time, easy to pair, placed as required next to existing smoke detector in children's room of church. Pressed the testbutton on the smoke detector and within 5 seconds had triggered the sensor causing an alarm, and per setup of system, 2 emails and texts were sent. I WILL purchase more of these to put next to existing detectors....

Unfortunately, like the competitors, this unit requires you to purchase additional equipment. It does not state this on Amazon nor their website. I gave this 3 stars because I am disappointed I didn't get what I was looking for (and thought I had found) but I am reasonable enough to know that it may work great once you have the more expensive requirements.

This product is not cheap and it simply did not work on two different brands of our smole alarms. I tried it with over a dozens test on youtube, sitting next to macbook speakers at full volume. Of a dozen, one model tripped the alarm, so it works, just not well. I wouldn't trust my home with this device.

I had this sensor at my previous house. it was not able to detect the compliant kidde smoke detector in our home.
