OLSAT Practice Test (Grade 3 and 4)

I used this book to help a child pass the NY G&T test. Used the book a year before testing time.

Fairly good overview of various different types of questions. Practice tests were not written by test takers of course, so this is a fairly good approximation of the questions asked. It is worth the money given the other sparse options out there.

There are so many mistakes in this book! For example one explanation in the back states the answer is B and then gives a one sentence explanation and concludes "Thus, the answer is D." The answer was actually A. Some of these questions are incredibly difficult and not appropriate for a third or 4th grader. Example: find the pattern: 1, 8, 27, 48, _. The answer is 1 cubed, 2 cubed, 3 cubed, etc. I can't imagine any 3rd or 4th grader getting that.

My son reported the questions on the actual 3rd grade test were much simpler than these practice test questions. Also, the solutions need to be edited better to fix mistakes.

This product is expensive for the number of test questions it contains. In addition, a couple of the answers in the back are incorrect which is astonishing given this is G&T test prep.

Very helpful practice test booklet. Questions were a bit harder than the actual test, but good practice!
