Is the 3010 compatible with the Kidde 2010 housing?

I would never recommending buying this product because it was defective. they went off at all times at night and we’re not reliable. We have since returned them all!

Is it possible to just buy the plastic mount for the wall?

This is what I noticed: There is a peg (or pegs) on the mount that activates the smoke alarm's 10-year battery when you twist it against the mount on installation. So even if you manage to find a mount alone, you need to know what you are doing to have the alarm activated.

Do these detect carbon also?

No These have to be mounted high up on the wall of ceiling as smoke rises and sets them off. Carbon monoxide detectors are totally different as carbon monoxide is odorless gas that sinks to floor and is called the silent killer for a reason. Without the proper detector carbon monoxide will slowly poison you and pets and you will fall asleep and die!

where in my bedroom do i install smoke detector ?

Smoke detector are required inside each bedroom and a smoke/carbon detector is required in bedroom hallway and on each floor of house Smoke rises best place is on ceiling or if on wall it must be close to the ceiling specific measurement is in I instructions
