Archaic and Terrible!
Absolutely archaic. Avoid this beastly written book.

Fascinating Book
A brilliant insight into the Indian sub-continent, both historically and contemporarily, a must for anyone proposing to visit India. The author was in India at its independence as a young journalist and then in the 1970s, married to an Indian; I could not put this book down and wished I had read it before and not after, visiting Rajastan and Uttah Pradesh.

Best journalist of the last century
How quickly he has almost been forgotten. Undoubtably one of the great journalists of the 20th century. His work stands for all that was best in the writers who cast doubt on the sureties of the so called given. Where are the replacements?
