Inspiring Book
I love Kathy's blog so I knew that I wanted her book as soon as it came out. It has great tips, ideas to ponder, and advice for making you a better rider and your horse a better athlete. It is well-written, easy to follow, and thought provoking. The concepts discussed are meaningful for any rider and horse. I like that the topics are concise and to the point. I find myself rereading different sections as I am in different "phases" of my riding. I am able to take away a different understanding as I grow and develop in my riding. I highly recommend this read for any equine enthusiast!

I purchased this book to learn more about how to ask for the movements in dressage. I don't ride dressage , ranch and roping is my style. I found the book to be very informative and I have seen changes in my cow pony and also in my riding thanks to the book. Well worth the read and I will be getting the next book in the series.

Kathy has a special gift in communicating the concepts clearly and logically without making it seem like rocket science
Kathy Farrokhzad is a talented writer. She has a unique ability to write about dressage and horse training in general. The principles of dressage can seem very complicated and overwhelming. Kathy has a special gift in communicating the concepts clearly and logically without making it seem like rocket science. I love her Horse Listening Blog and the book is a must have for dressage riders or riders of any equine discipline who want to learn effective and humane riding techniques that can improve the human-equine relationship, be more effective in their cues and free a horse's potential for flowing and powerful movement.

Excellent book for thoughtful riders & trainers of horses
I have followed the blog for a while and liked the straightforward approach to riding, training and how it impacts the horse. I have shared excerpts I thought addressed questions or problems they were having with their riding & training. I bought it a) to read, b) share with friends, c) use as talking points with my horsey friends as it pertains to areas they want to improve in.The author is a very good horseman with solid experience with traditional, classical training and behavior and has sound information to help others grow into educated, thoughtful caring horsemen

This is a nice book kind of and a good try
This is a nice book kind of and a good try. It is not very effective. Its just little bits and bites of bigger topics. I wanted to have more detail which it lacks. Also the constant repetition of why riders ride. Okay I think we all get this in every book for horse folks. I think this is a good book for someone just beginning, I found it very remedial and not what I was looking for at all. I really thought it had more information and I bought it but I think it was a waste of my time.

An excellent guide book to riding. Keep it at the barn.
This is an excellent for for beginners and intermediate riders of any discipline. Dressage is about finding balance in ourselves and for our horses. Kathy gives simple, spot-on descriptions of reader direction and then completes them with exercise and a REASON for doing them.

Not bad, pleasant read but not a thorough take.
It is a pleasant read, I was expecting more practical and thorough/detailed advice. The guides tend to reference the feeling and euphoria you expect from a particular movement rather than detailed walkthrough with detailed examples. I was.hoping my wife would be able to start her journey with this book but I think I will need further texts.
