Lovely story
This was a lovely story. The plot was well developed. The main characters were believable and sweet. The supporting characters were spot on! Loved Kim! Can’t wait for the rest of the books in the series!

Great Beginning for a Series
*No Synopsis*I wish there was a four and a half rating!A very enjoyable read about two women drawn to eachother after they survive a near death experience (which by the way was exceptionaly well written). This portion of the book was completely riveting. What I liked the most was the fact that they didn't fall head over heals in love with eachother after dinner and a movie. The author did a great job at creating two charachters with rich backstories that showed how the women came to be the adults they were when they crossed paths. This was a lovely courtship as both women had to overcome self-doubt and allow themselves to take a chance with eachother. I was very happy to see that these women waited before jumping into bed with eachother. It only added to the fact that their future was more important than their instant gratification. Besides, who doen't like phone sex? The writing style stayed away from cliches and the humor between the two women was clever and unforced. Of course there is always a happy ending, but eventhough I knew the inevitable, I still got caught up in the what-ifs. The only reason I did not give this book five stars was because of the "U-Haul" trap at the book's end. I think that could have been saved for the next book and it seemed a little out of charachter for these women who were so serious about taking things slow. All in all, a great read. I definitely plan on reading the whole series, because I am now very invested in these two charachters.

Just Mindblowing
KG MacGregor really did an outstanding job with this book of hers. The earthquake and especially the aftermath was wonderfully written and had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole ordeal. The slow burn chemistry between the two main characters really came across very realistic.

Enjoyable series
I like K.G. MacGregor's writing. This series of four books that develop the relationship between two likeable women is really enjoyable. In comparison with Susan X Meagher's similar but less successful attempt with a serial 'novelogamy' MacGregor's is fantastic. The leads are complex women. Their histories have moulded them into very different characters and the author does an admirable job of showing us the consequences of their strengths and weaknesses. She has a good ear for dialogue and she's not averse to providing opportunities for the reader to laugh.

Loved it!
Loved it. A very sweet, well written romance. I loved both main characters and the quirky family and friends kept things interesting. Highly recommended

A good offering from an excellent author
Without Warning is the first book in KG MacGregor's Shaken trilogy. It starts with the two main characters trapped in a collapsed building, with the escape long enough to be realistic but still only a small part of the book. The remainder develops the relationship with some tension but little angst. The characters are likeable and have depth, and the dialogue is light and humorous (though the uber Xena references are unnecessary). An excellent book by an author with an entirely justified reputation for good quality lesbian romances.

Not as impactful as I'd hoped, but okay...
After having this on my to-read list forever and looking forward to what a disaster book (i.e. earthquake, asteroid, etc.) would deliver, I have to admit that I'm left somewhat disappointed. The best parts of the book I found in the first third of the read where the earthquake occurs and Lily and Anna are trapped within the mall. Though this section was more on the light-hearted side than you'd think, since our heroines decide to lead with humor in their traumatic situation, I was able to visualize the scenes and felt more emotional intimacy because of the tight confines and their precarious situation. The aftermath of the earthquake section, where the romance is allowed to blossom, was more "eh".The book is more or less written fine but I couldn't help feeling there was a clipped, matter of fact manner to it all. I saw the characters' actions and was privy to their thoughts but I wasn't necessarily moved and impacted by them.Having been an original reader of Xena and AU Xena fanfiction back in the day I could definitely see the roots of the book written for its original intention. One of the pitfalls of a fanfic turned published original work is that a fanfic is already enshrouded in the feels, soulmate-ness, and history of the characters to fill in the gaps. Perhaps because I'm more removed these days or because of that short-cutted, clipped style I wasn't as enmeshed with the read as I wanted to be. It also just feels like an older story or style than more contemporary novels these days.It was an okay book though. 3.3 stars

Excellent book.
I loved this book. Great reading the beginning of this series about Anna and Lily. Just enough action to keep the story going. So glad to read a novel without all the teary, crying, lesbian drama scenes. I can't wait to read the next one. These would be great on Audible.

Moyen
Début prometeur puis l'histoire devient un peu niaise . On a l'impression que les héroïnes ont 16 ans et pas 30. Plutôt déçue.

Love!!!
Without Warning is the first book in The Shaken Series by KG MacGregor.I love this book dearly and it was the first ever Lesfic paperback I bought (along with the rest of the series). The book follows the aftermath of a earthquake in Los Angeles. Two women who have never met and are trapped together in a shopping mall get to know one another and develop a connection while trying to escape the rubble. Months after their rescue they meet again and begin a close friendship, that starts to develop into more... but they are from different worlds, Lily’s a lesbian and Anna is straight. Can it really work out?Firstly I love KG MacGregors books. Period. I haven’t read a book by her that I haven’t fallen head over heels for. Without Warning is no exception. I had butterflies from the moment these two women met again after months of looking for each other following the aftermath of the earthquake.Lily and Anna are soul mates without knowing it. The small gestures and intimate moments even as just friends was evidence of a deeper connection between them, I just knew they had to have a happy ever after. I also really enjoyed the secondary characters especially Anna’s sister, Kim who cracked me up more times than I could count. This is definitely a book not to be missed. But be forewarned that when you start this series you're going to want to have the next book waiting because it's addictive.5 stars.

The First
Without Warning is the first of four books. I bought them all because I fell for the two women at the first page and had to know what they had to deal after an earthquake. I loved reading about the amazon and the pygme getting through a shattering event I would not have survived. It's a must have book.

Without Warning - KG MacGregor
The jacket says:"On a day that begins like any other, a violent earthquake strikes Los Angeles, plunging the region into chaos. Two strangers trapped in a collapsed shopping mall, find each other amid the rubble and join forces to escape. Hampered by injury and darkness, they dig and claw their way through one crumbled store after another, emerging long after most have given up hope for survivors. The ordeal leaves both women shaken, but their shared triumph sets them on a life-changing course together, igniting a connection like neither has ever known.Anna Kaklis - whose perfectly planned life never included falling in love with another woman - is thrown for a loop, but she doesn't doubt her heart.Lily Stewart - abandoned too many times by people she trusted - won't let herself believe that Anna's love will endure.Without Warning is the story of their courageous journey through adversity, and their promise of steadfast love."
